When a customer wanted service in the pub, they pushed a button on the wall which activated the Call Box in the back room. The little star would jiggle to tell the staff which room to go to. This pub has three rooms on call:
- Private Bar.
- Public Bar.
- Bottle & Jug.
Size: 13 1/4" wide x 8" high x 3 1/2" deep. Made by Baughan & Co, Reading. Looks to be about 60-70 years old.
Condition is excellent. The handsome walnut case is very nicely made with fine dovetailing. The call box was electric, but the wires have been cut off. You might be able to rig it up if you really wanted it to work. A great conversation piece. It now has hanging wire on the back to hang on the wall like a picture. Please see the photographs.
