Royal Worcester

The Worcester porcelain Company was deeded in 1772.The firm became known as the Royal Worcester in 1862. The production was then marked with a circle and a crown on top.The date of manufacture was incised into the bottom or stamped with a letter of the alphabet, just under the circle. In 1891 Royal Worcester England was added to the circle and crown. After 1891 most wares had a blush-colored gound, before they were ivory. Most shapes are number and can be found in The Sandor book on Worcester.

Rw-4
Reticulated Royal Worcester Urn 1887 This wonderful urn was done in the Persian style in 1879. The urn is incised 707,R12 and the Worcester mark, the normal Worcester mark in purple is also present. The urn is reticulated with a vase inside the outer reticulated area. The urn is 14 inches from the top of the cover to the base of the urn.
The art of reticulation is achieved by piercing the wet clay if the potter slips with the knife he has to start over because slipped pieces do not hold in the kilm. This form of pottery is one of the highes forms since the item is subject to so many chances to failure. This Urn is in pristine condition except for some minor gold wear to the cover.
