The city of Pecs, is the major provincial city of southwest Hungry, close to the Yugoslav border. The old German name for the city was Funfkirchen, meaning 'Five Churches.' The 'golden period,'circa 1985-1920, is when it's Art Nouveau (Sezessions), examples were unequaled. Vimos Zsolnay was a Renaissance man devoted to innovation, and his children carried on the tradition after his death in 1900.
