1672
Antique Maw Art Nouveau Luster Tile - #2 This 6" square tile was made by Maw & Company (England), circa 1900. The Art Nouveau design is spectacularly highlighted by the use of iridescent luster (aka lustre) glazes of oranges/golds/browns. This wonderful tile is shown on page 108 of the book "Fired Earth - 1000 Years of Tiles in Europe". This tile has a larger leaf wrapping up around the left side of the central flower. The companion tile to this, with the leaf wrapping around the left side, is also available. There's a minor amount of edge roughness to the upper right side of the tile - generally in excellent condition.

American Encaustic Alhambra tile - #2 Alhambra was a line of tiles produced by the American Encaustic Tiling Company, of Zanesville, Ohio. Circa 1920, this 6" square tile has a mosaic look with 4 pink fleur de lys in the center, surrounded by a circle, and 4 larger fleur de lys in the corners - off white background color. Someone affixed to wood pieces to the bottom, and then painted these, the back and the sides a dark brown color - turning this into a wonderfully usable trivet!
