Child with Candle Studio Tile This hand made tile depicts a young girl grabbing a candle off of a table. In the left hand corner are the words "A Little Blower". Measures 3 ¼" x 4 5/8". Done in a gold brown majolica glaze and molded in relief. Porcelain body and incised by the maker on the back. Age is unknown. In excellent condition. (#1708)

Anton Lang Hand Painted Flower Tile This tile was hand painted by Anton Lang and depicts flowers and leaves – perhaps a dandelion? Or sunflowers and columbine? Measures 4 ¾" square. Impressed signature on the back. Anton Lang was born in 1913 and was a German studio potter. His pottery is relatively scarce still. In excellent condition. (#1591)

Gila Pottery Mud Mask Tile Made by the McKusick's while at Desert House, circa early 1950's, this tile depicts a Native American Mud Mask figure. Turquoise background with a raised line design - gorgeous glaze colors. Measures 6" square. This is mounted in a new solid oak hand made frame. Total measurements are 12 3/4" square - the frame is 1" thick. Oustanding condition. (#T-1871)

Solebury PA Commemorative Tile This tile is commemorating the 300th anniversary of the forming of Solebury Township, Pennsylvania – from 1702-2002. This was done as a limited edition of 500, by the Solebury Twnshp Park & Recreation Board. Press molded design, green glaze in the recesses, terra cotta clay. Measures 4 7/8" square x 5/8" thick, with slanted sides. Marked Erika on the back – reminiscent of tiles made by the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works of Doylestown. In excellent condition. (#1649)

Mosaic Tile Company Dutch scene Great black and white scene depicting a windmill with people in the foreground. This 4 1/4" tile was made by the Mosaic Tile Company, of Zanesville, Ohio, around 1940. There's a chip in the upper left corner, which could be nicely concealed if the tile were framed. A simple, yet appealing, tile design. (#1416)

Taurus Tile by Schreckengost / Summitville Made while at Summitville Tile, this was designed by Don Schreckengost. One of his famous "sculptured Zodiac" lines of tiles - this is Taurus - the bull. Done in a gold over black glaze. Measures just over 6" square. Extreme relief - over 2" - probably the highest relief I've seen on a tile. Heavy - red clay body, inscribed Summitville on the back. Excellent condition. I have 3 other tiles in this series. See Lois Lehner's book "US Marks on Pottery Porcelain and Clay" for a complete history of Don Schreckengost and Summitville. (#T-1240)

Harris Strong Tile Pair - Women A fabulous pair of tiles made by Harris Strong, circa 1940's. These tiles have their original frames, hooks, mountings, and purple fabric matting. Done in rube lined technique, each tile depicts the face of a woman - in lovely glazes of purple, blue, yellow, pink, and mauve. Each tile 6" square - framed they measure about 12 1/2" square. Original design numbers of 151 and 152 on the back mounting. Both are in outstanding condition. (#T-1114)

Danish Modern Cat Tile This terrific cat tile plaque was made by Soholm, in Denmark, circa 1960's. Measuring 7 3/8" x 6 5/8" by 1" thick. Created with glazes that look like crackle glass, this was made using the cuenca (raised line) technique. Signed by the designer, Simou,, to the left of the upper part of the tail. In outstanding condition. (#T1878)

Passion flower tile by Soriano Made by Soriano Ceramics, of New York City, circa 1950, this design of a passion flower (albeit funky and moderne!) is bright green and burgundy on a gray background. Measures 6" square, and has an original paper label. This has some edge roughness and minor surface scratches. A great tile for a modern house. (#1564)

Zanesville Ohio Tile with Woman and Parasol Made by the Standard Tile Company, of Zanesville, Ohio, circa 1930. Done in raised line technique (which looks like tube lining), this shows a woman with a great long dress, carrying a parasol and a purse. Background color is pale yellow, and the design in in white, a light blue green and black. Upper right corner has a chip, and a surface line - there is some dirt in the crazing lines. Would show well in a frame! (#1759)

Bright Floral Hand Made Framed Tile Hand made studio tile, incised G.M M. on back. Measures 6 1/4" x 5 3/4" by 3/4" thick. Incised line designs - semi matte and high glazes - wear to high glaze areas (causing them to look more matte). Age and maker unknown on this well done tile.
This has been mounted in a large solid oak, hand made frame. The frame measures 12 3/4" wide by 13" high and is 7/8" thick. Each side is 3 1/2" wide. There is one very minor scratch in the wood that can be touched up with stain. (#T-1102)
