T1868

Fulper Pottery Deco Bookends These mod looking bookends were made by Fulper Pottery in Flemington, New Jersey. Each measures 6" high by 5 5/8" wide, and the depth of the foot is 3". Each have the racetrack mark which dates them from 1922- 1928. Gorgeous brown/tan/gold mottled glazes. These have both been professionally restored - fairly extensively. They did a beautiful job and the bookends display well and look terrific. You can see the restoration on the underside of the foot part. (#T1868)

151611

Eagle dish by American Encaustic Seldom seen, this is a wonderful piece of pottery made by the American Encaustic Tiling Co., aka AETCO, of Zanesville, Ohio, ca 1920. This is an eagle with his wings spread - and he is hugging the outside edges of a shallow dish area. The high green glaze is simply wonderful, and pools heavily in the dish. This is 7 ½" across, 5 ¾" tall and about 4 ½" deep. Impressed circular AETCO mark on bottom. In excellent condition. Great to hold paper clips on your desk - or for keys or coins. (#T-1451)

PtWheatley

Early Wheatley Pottery Hand Painted Plate This exquisite piece of Wheatley is very early, and unlike much of the later wares. To find hand incised and dated pieces of this important pottery is not common. This large plate measures 11" in diameter. The technique of decoration on this is called barbotine, and was difficult and time consuming. The plate has a deceptively simple design of two lily stalks. Hand incised on the back "T J W & Co" and "1880". This plate is one of Thomas J Wheatley's earliest pieces, as the company was established in 1880, in Cincinnati, Ohio. This is in superb condition.

American Encaustic bookends These bookends are done in a gun metal black glaze, which has slight iridescence to it. They has a young child dancing with a garland, and a rabbit near the foot. The design is molded in very nice high relief. Made by the American Encaustic Tiling Company, of Zanesville, Ohio, probably circa 1925. There is one very tiny glaze break (<1/16") along the front edge of one bookend. Generally in very nice condition. (#T-1007)

T1466

American Encaustic AETCO Advertising Pottery Inkwell This outstanding ceramic inkwell was made by the American Encaustic Tiling Company, of Zanesville, Ohio, as an advertising piece, for their company. The inkwell has an area for two pens to rest (near the front), and two wells for ink, with the original pottery lids. The AETCO logo, within a circle, sits between the two wells. The logo is faint because the glaze was so heavily pooled. done in varying shades of blue, with tints of gold showing up in places, the glaze is truly wonderful. This measures just shy of 6" across, 5" from back to front, and sits about 1 1/2" high. Dating the pottery made by AET is tricky; my best guess is that this was made around 1930 - 1940. The well, and the two lids, are in excellent condition. (#T-1466)
