At least half of the items are tile, contrary to the title of the book. Very different than "American Art Tile", as the author had different collecting interests. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money, buy this as your "first" American art tile book! 272 pages, published by Collector Books in 1998.

The New Keramic Gallery by Chaffers This lovely hard bound book has a green cloth and gilt cover. Written by William Chaffers and revised and edited by HM Cundall, 1926, this is Volume I of a two volume set. Published in London by Reeves and Turner. The book says it contains seven hundred illustrations of rare, curious and choice examples of Pottery and Porcelain from early times to the beginning of the Twentieth Century. There is wear to the covers, tears on the side of the cover, has the past owners sticker on the inside cover, some pages have become separated the text is very clean. A lovely and very usable reference book for the pottery collector, with the added bonus of being attractive to display.

The Kovel's Collectors' Guide to American Art Pottery This still remains one of the better pottery reference books. Published in 1974 by Crown Publishers, 368 pages, hard bound, 10 1/4" x 7 1/8". Has a terrific index, very decent marks, photographs, drawings, and catalog pages - one section of color photographs. Dust jacket has tears, owners name on inside cover - interior pages clean and bright. Covers pottery and quite a few tile companies. (#BKKovelAP)

Flow Blue China book by Petra Williams Outstanding reference book on Flow Blue china, from about 1835 - 1910. Pages show a color photo of a piece, with its proper name, maker, a detailed description of the scene, marks on the piece, and the date made. Ms. Williams groups the patterns by scene type, such as the "Oriental" and "Floral" categories. Nice index of patterns in the back. Hardback - 9" x 6" - in gently used condition.
