American Art Pottery book by Sigafoose American Art Pottery by Dick Sigafoose - Another relatively new, terrific, hard back book on the market. At least half of the items are tile, contrary to the title of the book. Very different than "American Art Tile", as the author had different collecting interests. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money, buy this as your "first" American art tile book! 272 pages, published by Collector Books.

Country Floors Tile Catalogs Two catalogs from Country Floors - featuring American Artisan tiles, made to order. One is Catalog #27 and includes a glossary of tile and stone terms - approx 75-85 pages - all in color. The other catalog has 48 pages - both measures 8 1/2" x 11" - soft cover - gently used condition.

Two Tile Catalogs The first is "A Portfolio of Ceramic & Natural Tile Ideas" - says it has hundreds of great design tips from leading manufacturers. Softcover 96 pages. The second is Cerafrance - in an oversized binder - about a 20 page catalog illustrating their wares. Both are in very good condition.

William De Morgan and His Wife - Stirling This truly interesting book is titled "William DeMorgan and His Wife" - by A. M. W. Stirling - published by Henry Holt - 1922 - this is the "Authorized Edition". De Morgan discusses his life and the life of his wife, Evelyn, and their lives together. He waxes poetic about tiles, pottery, drawing, design periods (such as Merton and Chelsea), and anecdotal happenings. This is profusely illustrated in black and white. 403 pages - hard back. Tears to the binding on the inside covers and some discoloration to the covers - the inside pages are clean. An outstanding and amusing reference book for those who love DeMorgan's pottery and tiles.

Published by the Pond-Ekberg Company, Springfield, Mass. A must have for stovers and stove tile enthusiasts! Wonderful illustrations, photos and trade ads, good informative text, w/ patent list. Excellent condition, good dust jacket.

Victorian Ceramic Tiles - Barnard Victorian Ceramic Tiles by Julian Barnard, 1979, New York Graphic Society. A very good, out of print, hard to find, tile reference book, mostly dedicated to English tiles, although there is a nice discussion and quite a few photos of American tiles. Black/white and color photos. Hard back - 184 pages. Very good condition - dust jacket has very minor wear- interior is excellent. (#BKBarnard2)

Vintage Magazines with Tile and Pottery Articles Great group of 9 old trade magazines, all with invaluable reference articles on antique tiles and Arts & Crafts Movement pottery companies. Included are: the Antiques Journal from May 1970 and July 1977; Spinning Wheel (antiques magazine) from: Nov. 1970, Dec. 1970, Nov. 1971, Dec. 1971, Jan. 1973, June 1973, Sept. 1973, and a subject index to Spinning Wheel magazine for 1977.

Here are some of the articles in these magazines: California Art Tile (E.A. Batchelder), Nathan Clark's Pottery in NY state, "Tiles tell a Story" by Barbara White Morse , Isaac Broome Tiles, Rookwood's printed ware, Zsolnay pottery, Buying a Low Art Tile Stove (parts 1 and 2), University City Pottery and Taxile Doat, stove plates (Bucks County examples), the AETCO tiles of Walter Crane, University of North Dakota Pottery, Moravian Tiles (Henry Mercer), Aesop's Fables interpreted in tiles. Zanesville Art Tile in Color Zanesville Art Tile in Color - Purviance - (out of print) pub. by Wallace Homestead Book Company - This is a neat but strange book. About 25 pages, cardboard like paper, and spiral bound. Great for pictures of tiles from Zanesville companies, such as American Encaustic and Mosaic. Text is vague - but it has proved invaluable to me. Very good condition on interior pages - cover is worn.
