1713
California Womens Club Motto Tile This interesting tile has the motto for the California Federation of Women's Clubs. Done in a mint green high glaze, the design is impressed. This 6" square tile says " Strength United is Stronger". Although unmarked, I think this tile may have been made by the California Art Tile Company of Richmond, Ca, in the 1930's or so. There are 3 chips to the backside edges - none of which show on the top. (#1713)

1650
Mueller Tile Company Vintage Multicolor Tile Made by Mueller Mosaic Tile Company, of Trenton, NJ, ca 1920. This tile is 5 7/8" square and ¾" thick. It has a red clay base, and is part of Mueller’s polychrome faience line of tiles. A heavily incised design with semi matte glazes of cobalt blue/yellow/white with a matte green glaze inside. This was previously set and still bears mortar on the back. Chip in center of tile on the front, and a couple near the edges. A nice example of Herman Carl Mueller’s work. Great for use outdoors! 1046
Nice Stylized Floral Tile This attractive tile has a stylized floral design. Measures 3 ½" square x 5/8" thick. Done in a style similar to Arts & Crafts Movement tiles, this has slanted sides that are fully glazed. Molded raised line relief – semi matte glazes of pale green and black. Some surface scratching - generally nice condition. Maker and date unknown – looks very much like Malibu Pottery tiles – and other higher end A&C tile companies - my guess is circa 1920’s. (#1046)

Raised line technique, combination of matte and semi matte glazes. This has rounded corners. Measures 6" across by 1/2" thick. Signed Richard E. Bishop on back, with a copyright symbol. The corners were cut prior to glazing. Edge chipping – see photos – would look great framed. (#1227)

T1877
American Encaustic Tiling Company Inkwell Nice pottery inkwell made by the American Encaustic Tiling Company, of Zanesville, Ohio, as an advertising piece, for their company. The inkwell has an area for two pens to rest (near the front), and two wells for ink - the lids are missing. The AETCO logo, within a circle, sits between the two wells. Super light blue high glaze. This measures just shy of 6" across, 5" from back to front, and sits about 1 1/2" high. My best guess is that this was made around 1930 - 1940. In excellent condition. This would be great for pens and paper clips on a desk. (#T-1877)

T1876
Owens Tile Girl with Muff This is an unusual tile for the J. B. Owens Tile Company - this is a printed tile of a young girl dressed up for winter. Done in medium green and blue colors - this is a definitely fuzzy printing - which does give it unique charm! Measures 6" x 3" - mounted in a new frame (which I have not unframed) - dates from between 1909-1923. There is a small circle of minor discoloration near the top. (#T-1876)
