Hull Tile #2 Oustanding glaze on this tile made by Hull Pottery. Shades of green to blue green with small white crystalline type things.. Measures 4 1/4" square. Excellent condition. Marked Hull Tile on the back. Tiles were made by the A.E. Hull Pottery from 1927 - 1932 - in Crooksville, Ohio. (#1182)

Wheatley tile with shield Another great tile by the Wheatley Pottery Company, of Cincinnati, Ohio. This is design number 1104, and is a shield separated into equal quadrants with heraldic emblems. The background is a gun metal black iridescent glaze, with a goldish/green ribbon running over the top. Beige, orange, pale turquoise, and gold are the other matte glazes on this 4 1/4" x 3/4" thick tile. Circa 1925, in excellent condition. (#1114)

Round Baltimore Oriole Tile by Wheeling Done with a raised line technique, this is a really attractive tile made by the Wheeling Tile Company, of Wheeling, West Virginia, probably around the 1930's. This measures 6" in diameter and 3/8" thick. Cork applied to the back - but no mark visible. Nice matte glazes - minor wear to the raised lines and a slight wearing to the tile's edge. (#1710)

Moravian Bounty Tile – ca 1920 Made by the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works, of Doylestown, PA, this circa 1920 tile is done in matte blue on buff clay. Depicts the sailing ship Bounty.
Measures 3 7/8" square. Wear to edges and lights discoloration on a couple of sails. (#1648)

Southern California set of 4 tiles The funky orange brown glaze pattern is what makes these tiles. Each is 5 ¾" square x 5/8" thick - red clay base. Made by one of the southern California tile companies, circa 1930. Minimal light surface scratching on these tiles in generally very good condition.

Oil Lamp and Star Tile Great hand made tile – made in the cuenca (raised line) technique. Measures 6" square x 5/8" thick. Depicts an oil lamp with a flame coming out of it – and a cross on the top. There’s a star in a circle with rays shininf left. This may be a religious symbol or from a particular fraternal organization. Semi matte glazes with metallic gold. Unknown maker and age – looks like it is American and probably around ca. 1920. Tiny glaze nip on lower left corner – generally in excellent condition. See the companion tile to this - #1154.

Moravian tile Knight of Nuremberg Made around 1920, this art tile is by the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works, of Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Titled "Knight of Nuremberg", this is matte terra cotta with dark green glaze in the recesses of the design. This hand made tile measures 4 ½" x 4 3/8" by about ½" thick. It is in excellent condition. A wonderful crisp example of Henry Mercer’s tile output. (#1151)

Done in raised line technique in matte glazes of green, cream, brown and a gold orange. Minor edge nips - overall in very nice condition. Moravian Knight Pair This circa 1910 pair of A& C tiles was made by the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works of Doylestown, PA. The Knight of Gloucester measures 7 ¼” x 4 ¾”. The Knight of Margam with sword charging left measures 7 ¼” x 4 ¾”. Both are done with yellow enamel, half glazed, red clay. The yellow is much brighter and a little lighter than shown in the photos. The Knight of Gloucester is in excellent condition. The Knight of Margam had the lower right corner broken off - this has been professionally restored. The restoration is invisible on the top and sides, and visible on the back. The rest of the tile is excellent. Both are de-installed with exceedingly traces of white residue from the installation. A rare pair of tiles. (#T-1360)
