Victorian Toy Glass

Victorian toy glass, also referred to as children's glass, is highly collectible. Made around the turn of the century (1900), this miniature glass was used as playthings by children.

Hawaiian Lei Childs Cake Stand Hawaiian Lei is a Higbee pattern c. 1913. This 6 ¼" d x 3 ½" h. cake stand is usually thought of as a part of the Hawaiian Lei Victorian children’s set. The Higbee "bee" with initials is raised on the very center of the cake stand. Excellent condition. (#5831)

Baby Thumbprint Cake Stand This is a very hard to find, almost rare child’s cake stand. Excellent glass quality and clarity, as fine as that of Heisey. Maker unknown, c. 1910. It stands 3" h x 4 ¼" d., with a six paneled stem and a very flat surface. Excellent condition. (#5830)

Sancho Panza ABC Plate This 6" ABC plate is a Gillinder product, c. 1880’s. Sancho is leaning over his burro/donkey named Dapple. A sloppy application during the frosting process caused some liquid to drip onto a clear section of the underside as well as on the underside between the letters " W and Z". The glass itself is in excellent condition. (#5827)

The design is similar but not identical to the Monkey pattern sought by EAPG collectors, and is listed under that pattern in the Jenks-Luna book" Early American Pattern Glass." Very fine details of face and fur. 3 3/8" h x 3 1/8" d. Note the delicate handle. Excellent condition. (#5765)

Shell and Tassel Blue Mug Made by Duncan, c. 1881. I have seen 3 sizes of Shell and Tassel mugs, this being the largest. In this color my opinion is that it is the most striking. The color is almost a cobalt blue. Note the scallop shell just above the foot. 3 ½" h x 3" d. Excellent condition. (#5759)

Rose in Snow Mug This blue children's glass mug is one of the larger sizes, measuring 3 3/8" high by 3 1/4" in diameter. Made by Bryce Brothers, circa 1880's, one side of this has the words "In Fond Remembrance" - which was for President Garfield (memorial). The condition is excellent. (#3035)

Nursery Rhyme Creamer This is the creamer to the toy Nursery Rhyme table set. Maker unknown, c. 1900. There are 3 panels, each depicting a character from a nursery rhyme. The person with the pail is from "Jack and Jill", the boy jumping over the candlestick is from " Jack Be Nimble", and I assume the boy with the dunce cap is " Little Jack Horner." 2 7/16" h x 1 7/8" w. This is a pressing from a worn mold. I believe the 2 horizontal and 1 vertical hair width lines on the Jack be Nimble panel are in the making. (#5724)

Acorn Toy Glass Creamer It is thought that the Acorn pattern made have been made by the Crystal Glass Company, circa 1900. The creamer features a girl in a bonnet on one side, and a boy in cap and knickers on the other side. It measures 3 1/4" from base to lip. There is a 1/8" flat surface flake of the top edge of the pouring spout. (#5530)
