5828
Shell and Tassel Water Pitcher Shell and Tassel was made by Duncan & Sons, c. 1881. The pitcher is 8" high, base to lip x 5" wide. No chips on rim, base or handle. The top 2 ½" of the pitcher body and the base glass is clear. The remainder of the pitcher body, particularly on one side is very slightly cloudy glass and looks as if it may have been scrubbed horizontally with something like a steel wool pad. The overall look resembles an unwashed bottom half of the pitcher body. (5828)

Click for more detail...
4715
Dahlia Water Pitcher This pattern glass pitcher was made by both the Portland Glass Company and the Canton Glass Company - and dates around 1880. Amber color, with a pressed handle, Dahlia pattern. There is a small internal glass defect (about 1/2") shown in the photo. This is a neat looking pitcher partly because the "bowl" part of the pitcher does not sit totally square on the foot, although the piece site perfectly flat on a table. One of those early quirks with glass making in the 19th century! (#4715)

Click for more detail...
5736
Etched Stag in Forest Water Pitcher These acid etched pieces were popular in the 1870’s – 1890’s. They are fun and they are esoteric. Etched goblets and tumblers are the easiest pieces to find. This pitcher stands 8 1/16" high, lip to base. The etching completely encircles the pitcher which features a stag standing in a forest of pines and hardwoods. The bottom 1 ¼" depicts a streambed with assorted rocks. The handle has a "Burlington" mark. Working on a way to photograph these etched pieces – dyed water seems to help. Excellent condition.
