Antique Floral Brown White English Tiles - Set of 12
Each of these 6" square antique tiles is transfer printed brown on a cream background, with a clear majolica (shiny) glaze. The design is a wonderful group of flowers, buds and leaves - made in England, probably by Sherwin and Cotton, ca 1900. These would work well in groups,in a single line pattern, or in a block. All tiles are in excellent condition. Sold as a set of 12. Can be used in a kitchen backsplash, countertop, as part of a fireplace surround, or in a wonderful table.

Cal Art Flower Tile
This attractive tile with three large blue flowers sitting in a pot was made by the California Art Tile Company of Richmond, Ca., circa 1930. Measures 3 5/8" square by 5/8" thick. Semi matte glazes – nice Calif. Arts & Crafts Movement pottery. Minor glaze nip on bottom left corner - nice impressions – unmarked. (#1588)

Cuban encaustic tile with mythical beast
An encaustic cement floor tile - with a mythical bird/beast as the subject. Colors are matte terra cotta, gold, white, dark tan and pale turquoise. Measures just shy of 8" square and 7/8" thick. Backmark impressed "La Cubana Hecho Cuba Habana". That is, this was made in Cuba. With only the most minor edge roughness, this is in excellent condition. (#T-1101)

Art Deco American Encaustic Tile

Octagonal Studio Tile – great glazes
Nice 8 sided hand made tile on a terra cotta base. Bright turquoise, yellow, black and green high glazes. Impressed flowers. Incised NC 53 on the back. Measures approx. 5 ½" to flat sides. Age and maker are unknown. In excellent condition. (#1590)

Zsolnay tile Eosin glaze
Fabulous green eosin glaze on this large Zsolnay tile. Measuring 9 1/8" square, this has a total thickness of 1 3/4". The tile was made to be inset, probably into a stove or fireplace. See photo for the unusual back construction. Raised molded design with a central flower motif. Pyrogranite material. The age of this is unknown, and could possibly be new. The side is marked with a raised "K2", "Zsolnay" and their five tower mark. This also has three words written in pencil. In outstanding condition. (#T-1269)

Cambridge Tile Company 4 Number Tiles
A very cool and unusual set of number tiles, made by the Cambridge Tile Company of Covington, Kentucky. Each tile measures 3" x 2". The numbers are impressed in the surface and have a black high glaze, with a creamy white high glaze background. Circa 1930. The painted black metal holders are original to the period, but I don't know if these were made by the company or another manufacturer. This set has two number "7" tiles and two number "6". There is wear to the metal, and the tiles have edge nips and minor discoloration under the white glaze. They are a neat collector's item! I also have another set of these with four number tiles - see item # T1272. (#T1273)

This has 2 opened sunflowers, with leaves - made by the American Encaustic Tiling company, of Zanesville, Ohio. Measures 6" square - done in a lime green majolica glaze, circa 1890. Very minor edge wear. 4 others available (one has 2 small nips) (#1816)

French square encaustic floor tile ca 1910
Made by Societe Anonyme des Carrelages Ceramiques de Paray-le-Monial, this square floor tile measures 7" square. Colors of buff, terra cotta, gray, gold, and teal blue create the interesting geometric pattern. Some surface scuffing but generally nice condition. Circa 1920. (#T-1313)

Mexican House Number Tiles - set of 3
Great for use on houses, porches, gardens; this is a set of 3 Mexican tiles, each with a different number. These are numbers 3, 4, 5. Each is 5 1/4" x 2 3/4" red clay, hand painted. Age is unknown. Chip on bottom and back side of #4, minor glue on the backs. One is marked "Made in Mexico" - others are unmarked red clay. (#1705)

Chinese Tile - Musical Procession
This hand made tile has a wonderful scene - two musicians (playing a flute and a stringed instrument), and two other Chinese ladies - one carrying a ceremonial basket on a pole and the other carrying a hanging bird (crane like). Measuring about 7 1/4" square, with a touch a variation since the tile is not perfectly square. The figures are incised, and the tile has pleasing muted semi matte glaze colors of a dark gold to brown, green, navy blue and cream. This is #4 of 4 of a series; this one has a navy blue background. Excellent condition. Unmarked, age unknown but I suspect these might be from the late 20th Century. (#T1326)

The figures are incised, and the tile has pleasing muted semi matte glaze colors of a dark gold to brown, green, navy blue and cream. This is #2 of 4 of a series; this one has a dark gold background. Excellent condition. Unmarked, age unknown but I suspect these might be from the late 20th Century. (#T1324)

Batchelder Tile with 3 Checked Flowers in an Urn
This Batchelder tile has a central pot or urn filled with three open flowers, each with a checked pattern - thick decorative self framing edge. Done in a matte light reddish tan finish, with a blue engobe in the recesses, this measures 5 3/4" square by 3/4" thick. It is design #35 in the Batchelder Tiles catalog. This de-installed tile has a very good front tile surface. Some slight mortar/grout in a couple of the recesses. The back clearly shows the de-installation and some remaining mortar. Circa 1920's. Terra Cotta Fish Tile
This unique tile has nice high relief on the designs, about 3/8". Depicts a goldfish, or a carp, with whimsical water lines. Measures 7 ½" square – total depth is ¾". Unmarked – age and maker unknown. Minor nicks on the high relief, chip on upper right corner. Great for an outdoor garden or water feature. (#NC012)
