Series tiles are ones that were part of a larger set of tiles. They, of course, include the brilliant English tile makers and designers of the Victorian era. Also included are series done by AET & Mosaic from the 1930's on, as well as the many Astrological sets created throughout the tile ages.

Click for more detail...

1118

American Encaustic Nursery Rhyme Tile - Boaster A very nice trivet made by the American Encaustic Tiling Co., to commemorate a field day for the Pittsburgh Tile Industry. This is dated July 31, 1926. The motif is based on a design done by Walter Crane (in England), and shows a man boasting about his feats. A whimsical saying also adorns this 6" square tile. In generally very good condition, there are 2 surface scratches (about1" long and through the glaze) near the standing mans left leg. These are in fact, fairly difficult to see. A very nice example of a storybook/fable tile. This series of Nursery Rhyme tiles look great as a set! (#1118)
