Rare Trent Tile Company Advertising Paperweight
This round paperweight tile was made by the Trent Tile Company of Trenton, New Jersey, circa 1890. The top reads "Trent Tile Co’s Porcelain Enamel Works No. 1354 Trenton, NJ U.S.A". The center says "Installations Rockeffer Inst. NY city , York & Sawyer Architects, St. Lukes Hospital NY City Ernest Flagg Architects, 998 5th Ave. NY City McKim, Mead & White Architects, and Wanamaker Store, Phil, O.H. Burnnam & Co Architects.". The bottom says " For all sizes of wall tile and trimmers".
Amazing and rare tile – measures 4 ¼" in diameter. Two side edge glaze chips. Unmarked on back. (#1589)

Fulper Art Pottery Scarab Flower Frog
Made by Fulper Pottery, this is a flower frog in the form of a scarab ( beetle ) , done in a matte blue glaze. Measures 3 1/4" long x 2 3/8" wide, by a bit over 1" high. Unmarked. Glaze chipping around the bottom edge - please see photos. (#T-1874)

Commemorative Abraham Lincoln Paperweight
A portrait of Abraham Lincoln is the design on this paperweight/tile made by the Mosaic Tile Company of Zanesville, Ohio. A matte blue background with a relief molded likeness of Lincoln in white Jasperware-type fashion. Measures 3" high x 3 ½" across. There is a smoothed out shallow flake in the top left corner - generally in nice condition. (#PH28)

Native American Chief - Mosaic Paperweight
Made by the Mosaic Tile Company, Zanesville, Ohio, circa 1930 - 1940, this round tile paperweight measures 3" in diameter. A native American (Indian) chief wearing a feathered headdress is the transfer printed design. Semi matte glaze glaze over the design. In excellent condition. (#1661)

Bethesda Hospital paperweight by Mosaic Tile
Measuring 3" in diameter and ½" thick, this paperweight was made by the Mosaic Tile Company (Zanesville, OH) to commemorate Bethesda Hospital. Dated December 10, 1965, this was probably for their opening. A medium sky blue color transferred design on a cream color body, with a matte finish. In excellent condition.

AET Knights Templar Medallion - 1901
Dated 1901, this 2 1/2" medallion is both transfer printed and hand colored. Probably made by the American Encaustic Tiling Company, of Zanesville, Ohio, this commemorates the "Tri-Annual Louisville, Kentucky Cyrene Commandrey No 10". Black transfer, rust color accents, and traces of gold around the edge. Factory hole at the top. A lot of little glaze nips to the outside edges, both front and back. Crazing line on back. This very unusual medallion is truly a treasure!

Lions Club International Ceramic Souvenir
Beautiful detail on this press molded pottery piece- made for the Lions International Club. Signed and dated underglaze on the back, CHB '53, this measures 1 1/2" in diameter and is 3/8" thick. Not only is this an unusual commemorative piece of pottery, but the rare glazing in purple puts it right over the top! In outstanding condition.

Made by the Mosaic Tile Company, Zanesville, OH, circa 1940, this depicts General Pershing. The tile was made for the American Legion Zanesville Post Number 29, as part of their Home Building Fund. Antique Advertising Pottery Pen Holder for Tile Company
This great advertising piece for Sajan & Company looks like it's a pen or pencil holder, but certainly doubles as a paperweight. The top says "Suppliers to Govt P.W.D. and Native States", then under Sajan & Co, "Fort No 1 Bombay Merchants & Contractors". The sides say "English Floor Wall Tiles Mosaic Tiles All Building Materials AT Moderate Rates".
Made on a dust pressed blank, this hexagonal ceramic piece measures 4 1/2" from point to point, and just under 4" to the flat sides. A fabulous green majolica glaze covers the words, done in intaglio technique. I believe Sajan & Company was located in India - and this piece certainly has the feel of something from circa 1900, but that's just an educated guess. There are some small glaze nips to the outside edges, and only the most minor of wear on the face. Generally in very nice condition- what an unusual piece for a tile or pottery collection, and an example of historical memorabilia. (#T1126)

Swan Coasters by Mosaic
Made by the Mosaic Tile Company, of Zanesville, Ohio, each of these round tiles measures 3" in diameter. Transfer decorated with a swimming swan, there is one in blue, one in black and one in red. These can be used as coasters, paperweights, or just decorative tile accessories. Probably circa 1950-60. All are in nice condition.

University of Saskatchewan Clay Student Piece
The relief molded design on the front is copying the "Lion relief on the College Building" of a rampant lion facing left with three wheat sheaves.. The College Building is a national historic site which is part of the University of Saskatchewan. See Wikipedia for more information on this.
Three ink stamps are on the back. In the central recessed area - it reads "MADE FROM SASKATCHEWAN CLAY". Below that "At the UNIVERSITY". The top has faded a bit but says "Compliments of Saskatoon Board of Trade". Brown majolica glaze - measures roughly 3 1/4" x 2 1/2" - x 3/8" thick. This was designed as a paperweight and was a giveaway. These were made between 1921 -1951. See the website of the U. of Saskatchewan (on campus news) for a bit more info! Zanesville Rotary Tile Medallion by Mosaic
Made the Mosaic Tile Company, of Zanesville, Ohio, this white unglazed tile medallion was made for the Zanesville Rotary. Measures 2 3/8" in diameter, and has a small factory hole at the top, where a ribbon could be threaded through to wear this. Exact age unknown, probably circa 1940 or so. Excellent condition.
