T1803

Southern Folk Pottery Dirt Dish Attractive hand thrown pottery dirt dish, also called a pie plate - nice crimped edges with a burnt orange color glaze - I've seen this referred to as a red eye gravy glaze. Measures 9 1/4" in diameter and just a bit over 2" high. There are several small and fairly shallow edges chips (see photos) - all are in the darker red glaze making them not very noticeable. Probably made by JB Cole Pottery. A nice piece of pottery to use and enjoy! (#T-1803)

North Carolina Pottery Medicine Jar This pottery medicine jar, also referred to as apothecary jars, is hand made and hand thrown. Split handle and simply an outstanding glaze. Measures 7" tall and about 8" from handle to handle. Unmarked - red clay base. I believe this is a piece by AR Cole, circa 1930's - 40's. The glaze looks a lot like his "mistake crystal blue" glaze - see page 156 of A. Everette James book "North Carolina Art Pottery". In outstanding condition - no chips, cracks, hairlines. (#T-1802)
