Southern Folk Pottery

This southern folk pottery dates from the 1930's through the present. All of these pieces are hand thrown. Many of these pieces are from the potteries of the Seagrove area of North Carolina. Also included are Virginia, South Carolina and Georgia pottery. Included are pots from AR Cole, JB Cole, Pisgah Forest, North State, Williamsburg, CC Cole and many other well known and talented potters.

Chinese Blue North State Pottery Jug Hand thrown jug or cream pitcher made by North State Pottery of Sanford, North Carolina. Measures 4 1/2" tall by about 4" in the middle. Nice ribbing effect in the center. Two inside rim chips and one tiny nick on the handle - (see photos) - generally decent condition. (#T-1384)

Great Smoky Mountains Rebecca Jug Terrific drip glazes on this smaller rebecca jug measuring 8" high to the top of the handle. Heavily potted, nice form and glaze, made by C C Cole, Seagrove, North Carolina. Ink stamp on the bottom - excellent condition, probably circa 1950's. (#T1516)

Southern Folk Pottery Dirt Dish Attractive hand thrown pottery dirt dish, also called a pie plate - nice crimped edges with a burnt orange color glaze - I've seen this referred to as a red eye gravy glaze. Measures 9 1/4" in diameter and just a bit over 2" high. There are several small and fairly shallow edges chips (see photos) - all are in the darker red glaze making them not very noticeable. Probably made by JB Cole Pottery. A nice piece of pottery to use and enjoy! (#T-1803)

AR Cole Pale Red Hand Thrown Pot Nice pleasing shape on this pot / dish made by AR Cole Pottery of Sanford, North Carolina, probably circa 1930-40. Generally an oblong shape, this measures 7 5/8" long by about 2 1/2" high - pale red glaze to muted red glaze. There is a 1/4" long small shallow flake on the outside edge (see photo) - generally very nice condition. (#T-1382)
