S191

Duncan Ribbon Butter Dish Made by Duncan & Sons, c. 1878. 8" high to top of finial x 6 3/8"w. to outer rim. This piece looks great at first glance, however there are problems as follows; scratch marks on one section of the bowl, a small surface flake on one of the small scallops, a 1/8" d. and a ¼" d. chip on opposing sides of the bottom round of the stem on which the finial fits. It just boggles my mind to dream up how the chips at the bottom of the stem occurred. (S191)

5955

Banner or Three Shields Butter Dish Believe this is an original Bryce Brothers piece, c. 1876, made for the Philadelphia Centennial. The dimensions are right – 7 ½" long x 5 ½" wide x 4 " high. And there is a "straw mark", really a shear line in the base. Very good condition for a piece that has so many edges – there is a 1/8" chip on the inside corner of the farthest right hand corner of the lid, and a 1/8" inside rim chip located 1 ¾" from the bottom of the lid. (5955)
