This outstanding antique ceramic tile plaque is oval in shape - which is unusual. The scene shows three cherubs near a small bonfire - you can see the smoke curling up from the fire. In the background to the right is a tree, and behind them is what looks like draped curtains. The majolica glaze is a blue green and heavily pooled at the top - some crazing can be seen in this heavily pooled area when the tile is tipped to show the shine. The figures are molded in very nice relief. This measures 7 3/4" in width and 6 3/4" from top to bottom. There are two factory holes in the back at the top, used for hanging. There is some wear to the glaze on the back, and only the absolute most minor of wear to two highpoints on the front side. Generally in extremely nice condition. Unmarked, probably English, definitely circa 1880. (#T-1067)
