Made by the Wheeling Tile Company, of Wheeling, West Virgina, this cool tile is a replica of the "George Washington Bookplate". So, all you librarians and bibliophiles need this! Measuring 6" square, this is done in a pressed raised line technique. Background is cream, the eagle and crown are in yellow, the crest is done in cranberry and gray, and the words are in brown raised line. The Latin words translate to "The result justifies the deed". Overall surface crazing - and one tiny flake on the top edge, circa 1950. Generally very nice. (#1025)
