This is a pair of demitasse spoons, both are gold washed and both are marked US Sterling on the back. These were made as commemorative memorabilia for the Columbian Exposition of 1892 - 1893. The handles of both spoons are the same - they have Columbus with a sword in one hand and a flag in the other. Has a Columbus banner underneath this - and going down the spoon handle there is a sailing ship, a date of 1492, and then a flower and leaf design descending to the bowl. The bowls are as follows: one says "World's Fair City", the other says "Fisheries Building". They are in moderately good condition - no dents, some wear to the gold wash. (#378)
