Daniel Zuloaga is the artist who executed this tile panel. He was an extremely accomplished and important Spanish ceramist (1852-1921). Measuring 8 3/8" x 6 1/4", this raised line design has very pleasing glazes. The scene shows a monk or friar in the main foreground with tall stucco buildings and an arched stone gateway behind him. In the distance is a man riding a burro, a man walking, a cluster of people near the arch and a person in an upper window.
This tile is in generally very nice condition. Three exceedingly minor glaze nips on the edges, and a factory glaze skip in the blue sky. Impressed mark on the back. (#T-1147)
