The two tiles with designs are encaustic and were made by the US Encaustic Tiling Company of Indianapolis, IN, circa 1890 - they are 2" square x 1/2" thick - in very nice condition. The two plain terra cotta color tiles are also encaustic, and were made by Minton Hollins & Co., England, circa 1880, 2 1/8" square by 1/2" - these have edge chips and surface wear. The last tile is an unglazed dark buff color tile made by Rookwood Pottery, Cincinnati, Ohio, circa 1890, 2 3/4" square by 1/2" - one side edge chip. (#T-1277)
