This is an unusual ceramic tile paperweight in a silk box. The round tile is a heavy pottery - intricate molded design of a Chinese dragon - nice large self framing edge - goldish brown majolica glaze. This came in a silk covered box with an ivory (or ivory type) clasp. Lined in a shiny red material - the red silk sidestrap needs to be re-attached at the bottom. The tile measures 5 3/4" in diameter and almost 3/4" thick. The box 6 1/4" square by 1 1/2" thick. I believe these to be Chinese and probably from the 1940's or 1950's. Both the box and the tile are in very nice condition. (#T-1393)
