Great whimsical dodo bird type beast on this vintage tile made by Taylor Tilery, of Los Angeles, California. This is a part of their line of Santa Monica Tiles. Done on a white clay dust pressed blank, they called these "novelty inserts" in one of their trade catalogs. Really attractive glaze colors of muted green, blue, salmon, and gold. Measures 4 1/4" square - circa 1930. In excellent condition. (#1101)
