This hand colored aquatint engraving was published by William Miller on Albermarle Street (London) England, on January 1st, 1805. From a painting by William Henry Pyne, from the "Costume of Great Britain". Depicts a baker carrying two huge baskets of bread and rolls, walking down a country lane. This is No. 47. Measures 9" x 13" - framed measures 10 3/4" x 15". We also have "The Butcher" from this series. According to Wikipedia, "William Miller was one of the leading English publishers of the early 19th century". Gesso frame - tiny chip to frame lower left. |
