Black Americana Lead Toy Soldier Man Sweepng
Neat vintage pre-war toy soldier type toy of a black man sweeping with a broom. We believe this to be an antique lead toy from the looks of it (although we can't guarantee that not being experts), and thus it should be handled with care and not given to children. To us he looks like a railroad train porter type from the cap on his head, but there are no RR markings on him, so we can't know this for sure. On the underside base in raised letters we can read "France", there are also a few other letters in another spot but we can't make out what they are spelling.
About 2 1/4 inches tall, about 3/4 inch wide, standing on a rectangular base with a bottom depth of about 1 1/8 inch. There is a pin hole on the top of his head, which we believe is from separating him from the mold he in which he was made. Great condition overall for his age, with no breaks or chips that we see, but there is much paint wear all over his blue-gray outfit and on his black face, hands, etc., none of which is unexpected for an antique piece like this. The paint looks original to us, he does not look to have been repainted. A nifty addition to a soldier or train figurine set or a black americana toy collection.

Britains Lead Toy Figure Worker
Lead toy man figure which appears to be a worker of some type, but we don't know what type. Please note that while not certain, we believe this piece to be made of lead and therefore should be treated with care and especially not be given to young children given lead concerns. The piece stands about 2 1/4 inches tall, 1 inch wide and 7/8 inches in depth at the base. On the underside are raised letters which, while some are very worn, say 'Britains Ltd, Proprietors, Made in England, Copyright'. While a fun piece, he clearly has been used and played with since there is paint wear, including paint wear on the face, hands and arms. He does not appear to us to have been repainted. There is also a small hole on the top of his hat which we believe was made in manufacture. There is also wear to the underside base on which the piece stands. We also note that his hands are very curved. We don't know if he was ever meant to 'carry' something, but the hands seem to us curved in a way that would have permitted holding a rod or stick of some type if that was wanted.

Britains Lead Toy Figure Seated Lady
Seated lady toy figure, made as if she was meant to be seated on a bench or chair (but we don't have the piece she would have been seated on). Also, it appears that she was meant to have a movable arm, but that arm is missing with only the 'peg or pin' for the movable arm remaining. Please note that while not certain, we believe this piece to be made of lead and therefore should be treated with care and especially not be given to young children given lead concerns. The piece is about 1 3/4 inches in length, about 3/4 inch wide and 'sits' about 1 inch in depth. On the back side of her legs are raised letters which, while some are very worn, say 'Made England, Britains Ltd, Proprietors, Copyright'. This piece has clearly been used/played with since, beyond one of her arms missing, there is much paint wear, including paint wear on her face/hair, hand/arm and much on her dress. She does not appear to us to have been repainted. There is also wear to the underside base of her feet. In addition to this lady, we have two other seated figures (a man and a woman), who are in better shape but are not made by Britains. Please e-mail if you want information on them.
