1164
Magic Lantern Slide: Bach Birthplace From a collection of magic lantern slides showing famous music composers & places in their lives. All black & white or clear images (shot 'lying down' on a piece of white paper, please excuse 'white flash' from the camera lighting), size about 3 1/4 x 4 in., 1/8 in. thick, glass on both sides, with thin black material, paper or tape covering all edges. Each magic lantern slide image is single or double matted with black borders, paper or tape on inside of glass (on back side can see reverse side of tape or glue on inner surface).

This slide shows the birthplace of Johann Sebastian Bach in Eisenbach, Germany, and on one side a piece of paper has been glued onto slide labelling it. There is also a written number '7' (probably indicating its place in the collection). On the slide itself underneath the building appear the words, 'House in which Bach was born.' Slide is in wonderful condition, no cracks or chips evident. When looked at at an angle in bright light you can see on the surfaces of the glass a few minor scratches, lines, rubbings, dots, fingerprint, a dirt smudge, etc., but nothing unexpected for a piece of this age and nothing that detracts from its beauty.

A wonderful piece which a crafty person could mount or attach wire to so as to possibly hang in a window.
