1886 Royal Worcester China Perfume Bottle Base Only Beautiful antique china or porcelain piece made by Royal Worcester china in 1886, based on the printed dark green mark on the underside of the piece (which next to this appears to have an impressed "U"). The "X" under the insignia indicates the production year, 1886, from what we researched. From the large round shape and the metal part attached at the top, we believe this to be the base portion of a vintage perfume bottle -- the home from which we purchased this had no other parts. The top metal portion is all tarnished and appears to be silver plate or some other metal -- we don't believe it to be sterling as we see no marking on it other than the number 9 in one spot. This metal portion has screw threads around it's base, with one spot where a vertical thin open line "space" interrupts these threads (we believe this to be how it was manufactured and not a flaw). On the top inside you can see the cement used to attach these two pieces.

The main perfume bottle porcelain appears to be ivory base color (as seen on the underside and what we can see of the interior) that has been entirely covered in yellow with a gold line branch or leaf design. Measures about 3 1/2 inches in height, 3 inches in greatest width, 13/16 inch top portion (from outside to outside), and about 1 3/8 inch diameter underside base portion on which the piece sits. We have provided several images -- please note that there is no "circle of pattern" missing or significantly "lighter areas" or white "hot spots" on this item. Unfortunately the camera lighting blocked out some of the pattern due to the reflection on the surface of the piece.

Excellent overall condition, we see no chips, cracks, breaks, or crazing. There is some light spotting/dirt/wear on the yellow/gold outside (nothing bad at all, but if you look very closely you'll see it near the bottom on several sides), some pin/pit/dark dots, and some stray gold lines from the gold application. The gold decor looks very, very good -- it has some spots that show some wear, but nothing bad at all. There is one spot where an extra dot of gold was applied, leaving a tiny bump/lump. There is some dirt/perfume residue visible on the interior of the bottle at its base -- we just poured some water into it to see if this would come out and have now unleashed a perfume smell to the bottle! We'll leave it open to air to see if that dispells before shipping...The underside base rim on which the piece sits looks absolutely clean...it must have been kept sitting on a doily or perfume or vanity tray...

A terrific old Victorian perfume bottle which someone could have fun looking to get a top piece for it! Would make a great addition to any collection of perfume bottles or Royal Worcester china pieces, or just a nice compliment to room decor on a vanity tray.
