Cutty Sark Scotch Whisky Large Pottery Water Pitcher
This is a neat advertising distillery item collectible, a large ceramic or pottery pitcher associated with Cutty Sark Scotch Whisky. It is ivory colored with black graphic designs on all sides, with a black line drawing of the Cutty Sark Clipper Ship or Sailing Ship marked 1869 on one side, a black line drawing of "Captain John Willis of the Cutty Sark" with "Old White Hat" wording on the opposite side, and midway under the spout the words "Cutty Sark Scotch Whisky" surrounded by a floral graphic. There is a black line on the large side handle and another black line circling the pitcher near the top rim.
The pitcher stands about 6 1/2 inches tall, measures about 7 1/4 inches greatest width, about 4 3/4 inches in depth and has a round base with a diameter of 3 3/4 inches. On the underside of the base are the impressed letters "TLH", the impressed number "90" on the rim, and the words stamped in black in a half circle "Imported by the Buckingham Corp. NY., NY. Distilled, Blended & Bottled in Scotland '86". We believe this indicates this piece was made and distributed as an advertising collectible in 1986 (or maybe 1990 from the impressed "90"?). We've provided 8 images to show from all sides and details. Please note that the white "hot spots" are lighting reflection from the camera on the glossy surface. For shipment purposes, this piece is heavy for it's size and weighs slightly over 2 pounds unpacked.
Wonderful condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. There are some in-manufacture pin/pit dots and stray transfer dots, as well as some expected darkening from sitting on the underside rim, but nothing to report that is a problem at all.
A terrific piece which would make a great addition to any collection of distillery advertising items, a collection of nautical or clipper ship or sailing ship related items, or a general collection of pitchers. Very clean and also highly usable as a fun item to use in a bar or entertaining situation.

1970 Anysley Mayflower Commemorative China Bowl
Commemorative china piece by Aynsley China in England, marked on the side of the small standing bowl, candy dish or compote, as made "To Commemorate the 350th Anniversary of the Sailing of the Pilgrim Fathers". This china celebrates the sailing of the ship The Mayflower to America, and is decorated in the center with a color picture of the ship, details of when it sailed, landed and more, followed by words from then colonial Governor William Bradford. Since the piece states a sailing and arrival date of 1620, the 350th anniversary would indicate that it was issued in 1970.
The bowl stands about 2 inches in height, has a top opening diameter of about 5 1/8 inches, and a smaller short base with a diameter of 2 1/2 inches. There is gold line trim to the top and base edges, which are also scalloped. Excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or gold wear. There is a very, very fine crazing throughout the piece that is very hard to see (we had to use a loop to see this). We also see some pin/pit dots and a few tiny light brown dots. The white "hot spots" in the images are lighting reflection from the camera on the glossy surfaces.
A wonderful piece which would make a great gift for anyone interested in the Mayflower Sailing ship, the voyage of the Mayflower to America, the Pilgrim Fathers and Governor William Bradford, early colonial history or the American colonies, or anyone who is a descendant of those who made this great pilgrimage.
