Vintage Red Wood Handle Slicer Mincer Kitchen Utensil Gadget This is a neat old kitchen collectible or utensil or gadget which would be used to slice something in thin strips, perhaps a dough slicer for pasta? We've also seen this called a mincer. It has a nicely turned wood handle painted red attached to a two part metal piece that has a row of round wheels which do the slicing. By pressing on a thumb tab which has impressed on it, "Press Thumb Here" you can lift or separate a metal backing piece which guides the circles but separates for easy cleaning (given the age, you do need to guide the circles into the slotted grooves, pressing the thumb tab does not center the wheels in the grooves). This piece also has a stand up guard to protect your thumb. There is no manufacturer marking and we guesstimate that this piece dates back to the 1920s-40s period. Be careful in handling as the wheels still have a sharp edge feel.

Measures about 7 1/2 inches in length with about 3 1/8 inches greatest width across the metal part and about 1 1/2 inches in height to the top of the circles when sitting on a table. Very nice old used aged condition but certainly not mint. The red wood handle is worn and dirty with black spotting/wear as well as 3 white spots where the red paint has worn off which you can see in the topside image, scratches and surface flaking/tiny chipping on the pointy circular edging, and other general use wear. The metal portion (which we believe to be tin from the general darkening and tarnishing but don't know that for certain) shows expected tarnishing/aging with all over black tarnish/spotting as well age darkening, much pitting/black dots on the metal cap which meets the wood handle and other general wear. There is some light rust on the metal cap and on the circular wheels. The cap also freely lifts up (it is not tight on the wood beneath it). But none of this is unexpected for a vintage kitchen utensil and we judge this to reinforce its old used look and antique appearance. A nice addition to any collection of painted red wood handle kitchen collectibles, kitchen utensils or kitchen gadgets.

Vintage Red Wood Handle Tin Strainer Kitchen Collectible Utensil This is an antique or vintage red wood handled stainer. While there is no manufacturer name or direct indication of age, we are guessing this piece dates to the 1920s-1940s period. The wood handle is an elongated oval with a red wash, not a flat dark red paint but a lighter, airier red paint color. There is a low circular raised wood line ridge near the top of the handle, likely to aid in gripping. Above the handle is the metal strainer portion which has an open metal diamond shape below the strainer and two elongated diamond shaped "ears" above the strainer (possibly for ease in hanging from that end). The strainer portion has broad solid metal sides (which look to us to be tin, but we don't know that for certain) with just a largely flat circular strainer end (that is, items just strain through the bottom of the strainer, not its sides).

Full piece measures about 7 3/4 inches long x 2 1/2 inches wide (width of strainer opening), and sits about 1 3/4 inches in height when laying on a table, to the upper end of the strainer.

In old, vintage, used condition, but with a very nice overall look. The handle paint has an overall worn/used look (but not bad), with dark spotting near the bottom end, and the outermost end itself has no red paint and just a dark, worn spot. The metal portions have the expected worn/tarnished look and feel with dark spotting. The strainer part is in very nice used shape, with no holes or tears but overall wear, some rusting (particularly where the strainer meets the tin or metal sides), spots of dirt/discoloration, etc.

A great piece to add to any collection of red handled kitchen items.

Red Wood Handle Kitchen Wavy Crinkled Blade Vegetable Slicer Utensil This is a vintage kitchen collectible piece, a red wood handle wavy blade vegetable slicer used to make crinkle cut vegetables for cooking or serving. It measures about 6 1/2 inches in length, 2 1/2 inches in width to the slicer end and about 3/4 inches in depth to the wood handle. The metal portion is in good but tarnished old shape with visible orange rusting along the slicing end with a few other rust spots elsewhere.

The red wood handle is in nice old used condition, but does show wear/use as expected. There is some paint wear along the top and bottom ends with a bit also inbetween, some dark/dirt spots, scraping, rubbed areas, other usual wear.

Vintage Red Wood Handle Cheese Slicer Kitchen Collectible Utensil This is a neat vintage kitchen collectible, a red wood handle cheese slicer, something we don't see too often. There is no manufacturer marking or indication of age, but we guess this dates to the 1930's-1940's.

This piece measures 6 5/8 inches in length, 2 3/8 inches in width, and sits about 7/8 inches in height when resting on a table. It has a nice turned wood handle with a medium red paint. The slicer end tilts upward slightly and has a vertical guard to protect or rest against your thumb when in use.

Nice vintage used condition as expected with evidence of use/wear. The wood handle paint shows wear, scraping, rubbing, use, dark/dirt spotting, but none of this out of the ordinary. The metal shows much scraping/wear along the edges from use as expected, with other scratching, spotting, darkening/tarnishing, a bit of rust (not bad), etc.

Vintage Red Wood Handle Kitchen Melon Baller Collectible Utensil Neat vintage red wood handle collectible kitchen utensil or gadget, a small baller or melon baller, used in a scoop fashion on fruit to create round fruit "balls" for fancy fruit salads. There is no manufacturer name or age indication on this piece, but we guess that it dates back to the 1930's or 1940's.

This old mellon ball maker measures about 5 5/8 inches in length, 7/8 inch in width to the width of the handle, about 1 inch in diameter to the metal baller portion and sits about 7/8 in height when laying on a table. The red wood handle is nicely turned with a double line near the base. The metal rod and baller have tarnishing/black spotting like one sees on old tin but we don't know for certain which metal this is. There is a small hole in the curved baller section at the middle, as manufactured (we think this helps make it easier to release the fruit from the utensil when in use).

Very nice used vintage condition, with evidence of use, wear and age as expected. The red handle shows some paint wear, particularly around the end near the metal rod and well as some elsewhere and some rubbed wear, scraping/scuffing, a bit of white spotting, dark spotting/dirt/wear particularly near the bottom end, etc., but all adds to the believeability of age and nice used look. In addition to the tarnishing/black spotting on the metal parts mentioned prior, there is a bit of rust/rust spotting (not bad) as well as other general use wear (scratches, etc.).

A great addition to any collection of these neat old red handle kitchen utensils.

Edlund Red Wood Handle Egg Beater; Patent Date 1931 This is an old egg beater labelled on one side of the round wheel with "Edlund Company, Patent No. 1789224 - Other Pat Pend., Made in U.S.A., Burlington, VT". The patent number indicates the patent for this vintage beater was issued in 1931 (the beater could be made after that year under that patent number; this beater does look to us to be of circa 1930s vintage, although we can't guarantee that). It has two painted red wood handles at the top and to turn the wheel, with a double metal beater, each labelled "Stainless" on the side. Measures about 11 3/4 inches in length, about 4 1/2 inches greatest width.

Fully rotates, but does so in a jerky manner, not smooth, probably indicating it needs some oiling, but we are selling it as is, as found. We've done only minor surface wiping, could use a good cleaning (but some people like them looking used, so we leave alone). Very nice used condition with no visible dents, breaks, parts missing that we see. However it does show much age with wear to the wood handles (including paint wear, but not as bad as many we see, paint is largely still there), and much brown spotting/dirt/rust on the metal (some of this might come off with brillo but we haven't tried). A good bit of this is on the wheel, covering some of the letters or numbers. We've tried to show this in the images, please note that the white "hot spots" are lighting reflection from the camera.

Still a nice addition to any collection of antique egg beaters, kitchen collectibles, kitchen utensils or kitchen gadgets.
