1251

Green Wood Handle Wavy Blade Vegetable Slicer Kitchen Utensil Gadget This piece measures about 6 1/2 inches in length, 2 1/8 inches in width to the slicer end and about 3/4 inches in depth to the wood handle. The metal portion is in good but tarnished old shape with the metal cap fitting tightly on the wood handle (it is not movable). On one side of the cutter portion on one end of it there is something orange stuck in the lower metal part which we haven't tried to remove, we pretty much leave things as they are. It can be moved around slightly and may be the remnants of something once cut with the piece that has hardened (its kind of caught inside a curved part of the metal). As often seen, the green wood handle shows signs of use and wear. There are some spots, scrapings, marks, rubbed areas, etc. on the handle, far from mint, but still looks good for its use and age.

1255

Vintage Set of 4 Playing Cards Symbols Aluminum Cookie Cutters with Green Wood Handles This is a set of 4 antique or vintage aluminum cookie cutters with green wood handles likely from the 1930s or 1940s, although we don't know that for sure. They are being sold as a set because they are matching cookie cutters showing the 4 symbols seen on playing cards, which are a heart, diamond, spade and club. If you are looking to obtain only one specific symbol to complete a partial set which you already have, please see our other listings of available playing card symbol cookie cutters sold individually. The price quoted here is for the set of four cutters shown in the two images.

All cutters here appear to be of similar size, type, condition and age, and are likely from the same manufacturer (but there is no indication of what company that was). As we got these from an older home with a number of other cookie cutters in a large group, we don't know for certain that these particular cutters were originally sold to the first owner as a specific "set" but that seems likely. While size dimensions differ slightly due to the individual shapes, overall these pieces measure about 2 3/8 inches in width by 2 1/2 or 2 3/4 inches in length, with the diamond shape obviously having a greater length dimension of about 3 1/4 inches. With the wood handles, these antique pieces sit about 2 inches in height. All the cutters have a tight, curved fluting around the outer edge.

While in very nice overall shape, these pieces are old and were used and show evidence of use and wear (they are definitely not mint), but we believe this all supports believeability as to their age. We have only done a slight surface wiping and are selling them as is/as found. There is some dirt and spotting on the aluminum (not overly bad), some slight tarnishing, with scratches, scuff marks, some slight chipping/evidence of being banged together (when being stored in a drawer or box, etc.), and general expected use wear. The heart and spade seem to have kept their shape really well, with a little bit of slight misshapenness to the club and more denting/misshapenness to the diamond (but this is still not really bad). The diamond has a slight raised curve or dent on topside near a point which causes this one not to sit flat on a table but to wobble slightly. The wood handles on all appear to be in very nice overall shape, still fully nice green paint albeit with some expected slight use wear (some slight spotting/edge wear, nothing bad nor out of the ordinary for pieces that have been handled and used). On the heart the base of the wood handle must have been chipped during manufacture as it is not fully round, but the handle is fully painted (including the chipped area) with the original paint, so the manufacturer must have decided to release it in this condition.

A neat addition to any collection of cookie cutters or baking collectibles or one of green wood handled kitchen utensils or collectibles overall.

1250

1930s Edlund Company Green Wood Handle Bottle Opener Kitchen Utensil Gadget This piece measures about 4 1/2 inches in length, about 7/8 inch in width and 3/4 inch in depth to handle. It's a simple piece with dark gray tarnished metal at the top and on a metal cap and then the longer wood handle. On the inside of the metal bottle opening piece is impressed "EDLUND CO., PAT. NOV.7-33, MADE IN U.S.A." so it likely is a 1930s or 1940s piece. The metal cap part is not tight and can be moved up and down slightly but will not come off.

Condition is good but used condition with wear, scraping dots and lines, scarring to the green paint, etc. on the wood handle although the paint is overwhelming still there. There are two hairline cracks in the wood handle where it meets the cap, one on each opposite side, with the crack on one side appearing to go up under the cap, with these hairlines visible extending about 1/2 inch below the cap for one and about 5/8 inches for the other. Right below where the cap sits on the wood handle you can see the paint is chipped away most of the way circularly around the handle here with little chips. There is definitely use wear also on the metal parts including rust, as well as scarring, scraping and other wear on the metal and surface chipping/use wear to the very end where the piece would sit on a bottle cap. Still a nice old piece.

1256

Vintage Spade Aluminum Cookie Cutter with Green Wood Handle A This is an antique or vintage aluminum cookie cutter with a green wood handle likely from the 1930s or 1040s, although we don't know the age for certain. It is in the shape of a spade from the symbol on playing cards. It measures about 2 3/8 inches wide, 2 5/8 inches long and sits about 2 inches in height to the aluminum top piece on the wood handle. This appears to be an aluminum rod which goes through the handle to the underside of the cookie cutter. The outer edges of the cutter are ridged or have a tight scalloping.

The old cookie cutter is in very nice overall used shape. It is not mint and likely was used in baking cookies but the wear appears to be minimal. The aluminum portion has scratches, scuffs and other signs of wear but not bad at all. The wood handle is in great shape with all the original green paint there, but with slight expected evidence of use from some small scratches, scuffs, wear lines, but again nothing bad nor out of the ordinary.

A great cookie cutter to complete your set of playing card symbol cookie cutters, or just a nice addition to any cookie cutter or baking utensil collection or an overall collection of kitchen utensils with green wood handles.

Vintage Spade Aluminum Cookie Cutter with Green Wood Handle B This is an antique or vintage aluminum cookie cutter with a green wood handle likely from the 1930s or 1040s, although we don't know the age for certain. It is in the shape of a spade from the symbol on playing cards. It measures about 2 3/8 inches wide, 2 5/8 inches long and sits about 2 inches in height to the tip of the pointed wood handle. While the handle is fully attached to the cookie cutter and will not come loose, it is not tight in that if you shake the cookie cutter holding the handle the base aluminum portion wobbles or shakes a bit. The outer edges of the cutter are ridged or have a tight scalloping.

The old cookie cutter is in very nice overall used shape. It is not mint and likely was used in baking cookies but the wear is not bad nor unexpected. The aluminum portion has scratches, scuffs, dark dots/tarnish dots and other signs of wear but not bad for something of this age and use. The wood handle is in nice overall shape with all the original green paint there, but with slight expected evidence of use from some small scratches, scuffs, wear dots/indents, etc. There also appears to be a diagonal line near the base on one side that with a fingernail feels like a raised ridge but could be a hairline crack, we're not sure.

A great cookie cutter to complete your set of playing card symbol cookie cutters, or just a nice addition to any cookie cutter or baking utensil collection or an overall collection of kitchen utensils with green wood handles.

1258

Vintage Club Aluminum Cookie Cutter with Green Wood Handle This is an antique or vintage aluminum cookie cutter with a green wood handle likely from the 1930s or 1040s, although we don't know the age for certain. It is in the shape of a club from the symbol on playing cards. It measures about 2 1/2 inches wide, 2 3/4 inches long and sits about 1 1/2 inches in height to the tip of the aluminum top piece on the wood handle. This appears to be an aluminum rod which goes through the handle to the underside of the cookie cutter. The outer edges of the cutter are ridged or have a tight scalloping.

The old cookie cutter is in nice overall used shape. It is not mint and was used in baking cookies. Most importantly, the green paint on the handle while visible seems very faded or worn. It may not have been a brightly finished surface paint to begin with, but regardless now has a worn, faded, used look with the brown from the wood showing through. We still find this appealling and supportive of the age, but you should know this is how it is. The aluminum portion has a used, slightly dirty appearance to it, with scratches, scuffs, spotting, tarnishing, general worn look with perhaps the remains of old flour on the ridged side surfaces (we didn't really clean this piece as many people want the used look, and are selling it as is/as found). None of this is unexpected for a used piece of this age and adds to the believeability of age.

A nice cookie cutter to complete your set of playing card symbol cookie cutters, or just a nice addition to any cookie cutter or baking utensil collection or an overall collection of kitchen utensils with green wood handles.

1259

Vintage Diamond Aluminum Cookie Cutter with Green Wood Handle A This is an antique or vintage aluminum cookie cutter with a green wood handle likely from the 1930s or 1040s, although we don't know the age for certain. It is in the shape of a diamond from the symbol on playing cards. It measures about 2 5/16 inches wide, 3 1/4 inches long and sits about 2 inches in height to the aluminum top piece on the wood handle. This appears to be an aluminum rod which goes through the handle to the underside of the cookie cutter. While the handle is fully attached to the cutter, it is not tight in that if you shake the cookie cutter holding the handle the base aluminum portion wobbles or shakes. We think this is because on other similar cookie cutters on the underside there is a small circular aluminum piece under the bottomside of the handle rod, but that circle piece is not present here although you can see a circular line where it might have once sat (we are guessing that the circular underside piece may have come off at some point in the past). The outer edges of the cutter are ridged or have a tight scalloping.

While the handle of this cookie cutter is in nice shape, you can see in the images that the aluminum portion has been bent up from use. There are clear indentations on the topside and the edges are misshapen/bent in spots, with some of the outer ridging either flattened out or further bent. We don't know if this cookie cutter was dropped or mashed up from use, but it clearly didn't just sit on the shelf! The aluminum also has scratches, some spotting/tarnishing, etc. The green paint is fully present on the handle, but there is some evidence of wear including some circular lines and two raised spots where the paint may have pooled or been smudged in manufacturer's application.

Still could be added to complete your set of playing card symbol cookie cutters, or added to any cookie cutter or baking utensil collection or an overall collection of kitchen utensils with green wood handles.

Click here to enlarge image and see more about item 1262: Vintage Round Doughnut Aluminum Cookie Cutter with Large Green Wood Handle A
Click for more detail...
1262

Vintage Round Doughnut Aluminum Cookie Cutter with Large Green Wood Handle A This is an antique or vintage aluminum cookie cutter with a green wood handle likely from the 1930s or 1040s, although we don't know the age for certain. It is round with a second smaller inner round circular piece on the underside so that it would cut a doughnut shaped cookie. This inner circle can be slid off so the cookie cutter could be used to just cut a large round shape. There are elongated kidney shaped ovals in the metal base of this inner piece which allow it to be twisted/rotated onto or off of two screws on the underside.

What is most distinguishing about this piece, however, is the very large or oversized wood handle versus what is usually seen. The handle is shaped as a panelled octagon or eight sided piece, curving inwards and then out again at the base for easier gripping. Overall the cutter it has a diameter of about 2 9/16 inches with the smaller inner round piece having a diameter of about 1 1/8 inches. The handle itself is about 2 inches long, causing the full cookie cutter to sit about 3 1/8 inches in height. The side walls of the cutter are smooth.

The old cookie cutter is in very nice overall used shape. It is not mint and was used in baking cookies. The green paint on the handle while visible is very faded or worn. The sides of the handle near the top have more of the paint still left albeit still worn, with much of the paint surface worn away on the top and base of the handle. There is also some white spotting on the handle. We don't find all this objectionable as it adds to the overall aged look and believeability of age, but you should know this is how it is. The aluminum surfaces have an overall used, worn look from years of making cookies, with lots of scratches, some spotting, scuffing, tarnishing and general wear. The outside of the cutter has also been slightly bent over the years and is no longer perfectly round. None of this is unexpected for a used piece of this age.

A nice cookie cutter to add to any cookie cutter or baking utensil collection or an overall collection of kitchen utensils with green wood handles.

1263

Vintage Round Aluminum Cookie Cutter with Large Green Wood Handle B This is an antique or vintage aluminum cookie cutter with a green wood handle likely from the 1930s or 1040s, although we don't know the age for certain. It is round but has two screws on the underside which suggest that it may have once had an inner piece to perhaps create a doughnut shaped cookie. These inner pieces were usually twisted onto and off screws like this. However any inner piece was not present when we obtained this cookie cutter.

What is most distinguishing about this piece, however, is the very large or oversized wood handle versus what is usually seen. The handle is shaped kind of like a square that curves inwards and then out again at the base for easier gripping. The cutter has a diameter of about 2 9/16 inches. The handle itself is about 1 7/8 inches long, causing the full cookie cutter to sit about 3 inches in height. The side walls of the cutter are smooth. While the handle is fully attached to the cutter when you shake the piece while holding the handle the base part wobbles slightly.

The old cookie cutter is in nice overall used shape. It is not mint and was used in baking cookies. The green paint on the handle is in pretty good condition for its age. It is largely all there albeit worn along the carved edges and you can see the striations in the wood through the green paint. The aluminum surface has an overall used, worn look from years of making cookies, with lots of scratches, spotting, scuffing, dirt, tarnishing and general wear. The outside of the cutter has also been bent over the years and is no longer perfectly round. None of this is unexpected for a used piece of this age adds to the believeability of its age.

1261

Vintage Round Aluminum Cookie Cutter with Green Wood Handle C This is an antique or vintage aluminum cookie cutter with a green wood handle likely from the 1930s or 1040s, although we don't know the age for certain. It is round with outer edges that are ridged or have a tight scalloping. It has a diameter of about 2 3/8 inches and sits about 1 3/4 inches in height to the tip of the aluminum top piece on the wood handle. This appears to be an aluminum rod which goes through the handle to the underside of the cookie cutter.

On the aluminum on the top of the wood handle there is an indented curved mark. This piece is not a screw as the curved mark in the picture might suggest, but something must have pressed hard into this at some point in the past. The aluminum portion has a used, slightly dirty appearance to it, with scratches, scuffs, spotting, tarnishing, general worn look (we didn't really clean this piece as many people want the used look, and are selling it as is/as found). Also, as you can see in the underside image, the sides of the cutter have been dented or pressed inward slightly from use so that it is no longer totally round. None of this is unexpected for a used piece of this age and adds to the believeability of age.

A nice cookie cutter to add to any cookie cutter or baking utensil collection or an overall collection of kitchen utensils with green wood handles.
