Manufacturer: Walt Disney Productions
Neat collectible Disneyana toy, a plastic squeeze toy of Doc, one of the seven dwarfs from the movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. At the bottom back of his coat or jacket in impressed letters over two lines is the copyright "C" in a circle followed by "Walt Disney Productions, Made in Hong Kong." This is not a new toy. It came out of an older home, but we don't know his exact age (we are not toy dealers and just describe what we see). It is definitely made of plastic with painted areas and is a squeeze toy, having a hole on the underside of one shoe or foot and it makes a soft, high squeek noise when you press his belly and back together at the same time. Because this is an older or vintage piece and we don't know what type of plastic he is made of or what type of paint was used, we will only sell this to an adult collector, and it should be handled with care and not given to children to play with due to concerns with some types of plastics and paints.
Doc stands about 5 1/2 inches tall, about 2 3/4 inches wide and about 2 1/4 inches in depth. We have provided 8 images to try and show from all sides and details for condition purposes. Please note that the white "hot spots" are reflections from the camera lighting, which changes the coloring a little bit but not too bad. We did our best to shoot the manufacturer marking but it was difficult to shoot well. It definitely says what we've quoted above. The toy appears to be made in two pieces, one for his body and one for his head, which are tightly fitted together. We did a light surface cleaning to remove some dirt, but are selling him as is/as found.
This Doc collectible has a great antique or vintage look, but does have some flaws showing wear and age, and is definitely not mint. As you can see in the images, there is a good bit of blue paint loss on the glasses on Doc's face (note that the glasses are shown as just two blue circular pieces sitting on either side of his nose without any framing or bar parts to the glasses). While overwhelmingly most of his paint is still there, there are also touches of paint wear to his eyebrows, shoes and hat, and white paint flaking/chipping on his beard/hair but nothing really bad. The paint looks original to us, he does not appear to have been repainted. He does still have dirt spots, dots, and wear areas (such as on his hand and face) which may not be removable. There are black/dark dot spots in a number of places, scuffed/rubbed areas, some scratches and other expected general wear as one would see with a toy which was likely played with. But overall he is in nice shape.
A nice addition to any collection of Disney collectibles or Disneyanna, particularly one relating to this wonderful historically significant film for the company. |
