Manufacturer: Fitz and Floyd, Inc.
Four nifty identical vintage china pieces made by Fitz and Floyd, Japan (Fitz & Floyd) in 1979 as marked on backside. These are round plates, dessert plate size with a diameter of 7 1/2 inches, sitting about 5/8 inch in height. Marvelous topside decor of a bird or peacock done in an art deco style with the bird in black & white, set against a two tone brown color background. Fully marked on backside with pattern name, "Deco Peacock", followed by "Fitz and Floyd, Inc.", then the manufacturing date in Roman Numerals (MCMLXXIX), followed by "Japan". Under this appears "FF 79".
We've provided 4 images of one plate to show close-ups of the bird and the manufacturer marking. Please note that the white "hot spots" are reflections from the camera lighting on the high gloss surface. Also, the camera lighting distorts the lighter brown tone a bit. The darker brown coloring on the left side of the plate is a rich medium chocolate brown similar to what appears in the images. But the brown color on the right side of the plate appears somewhat tan in the images, when in person it looks much richer, more like a dark sand or sienna color brown?...we're not sure how to describe this color. We're sorry that the camera doesn't show the true color here but please understand that the plates look even better and more intense colored in person than appears in the images. Each plate weighs about 10 ounces unpacked, so the shipping package for just one plate will likely weigh over one pound packed.
Excellent overall condition, with no chips, cracks, or crazing. Two of the plates are as close to "like new" as we've seen on china pieces, with no scratches or major flaws, looking unused to us. On very, very close inspection at an angle in bright light there may be a touch of topside wear on these two from plates sitting in a stack for years, but we don't see any scratches or the usual kind of use that one sees with something that was used. The other two plates do have light topside scratches, one of them having more than the other, which you only see when looking at an angle in very bright light; no one would notice these sitting on a table or on display as we missed seeing them at first. While these two then were used, they are still not bad, and still very attractive and usable.
Terrific older pieces which will draw attention on display or hanging on a wall. Would certainly be a great addition for use in a set of these neat dishes. Would also make a nice addition to a collection related to birds in general or peacocks in specific, or a great present for a peacock collector.
Please note that the price shown and shipping cost inputted is for one plate. You can order one, two or more. Should you be interested in purchasing more than one plate, please e-mail us prior to placing the order so that we can provide a better shipping cost. We would pack multiple plates together in one box which would save you money on shipping weight and postage. The system has not been inputted to automatically calculate those savings for you. |
