Manufacturer: Royal Worcester China
Lovely Royal Worcester Dessert or Salad Plates in their Cup of Cups Pattern in the blue & white coloring with gold line edge trim. These plates are porcelain or china, as they are translucent. There are two identical plates available, sold/priced separately (or you can buy more than one if you wish, please see last paragraph below). Fully marked on reverse sides with the Royal Worcester crown and circle mark having the number 51 at the center & stating "Royal Worcester Fine Bone China" around the circle, with the "R" registered mark. Beneath this it states "Made in England, copyright symbol 1995, Royal Worcester, Cup of Cups (pattern name)".
These plates are circular, each measuring 8 inches in diameter and sitting about 3/4 inch in height. The topside is adorned with a blue and white graphic showing 7 cups & saucers, in 4 differing patterns (the design is repeated twice for 3 of the patterns), mostly floral patterns with one Japanese in nature, showing what we believe is a Japanese lady or geisha girl. There is a very pretty scalloped blue line design near the outer edge prior to the gold rim. We've provided 5 images including close-ups of the pattern and mark. Please note that the white "hot spots" are reflections from the camera lighting on the high gloss surface.
Very nice, very usable overall condition with no major chips, cracks, crazing. We do note there is some use/age wear on these plates which differs by plate, not bad but they are not mint. In general there are some topside scratches on these dishes (again amount and size varying by plate), and some have some use/rub wear and a few pin/glazing dots, but you only see these when looking closely at an angle in bright light (we did not see any of this until examining very, very closely). When on display or in use on a table you won't notice this, so this is minor, but you need to know this is there. On one plate on the backside rim on which the plate sits we saw a tiny rim flake, but again not an issue. There likely is other expected minor age/wear as these pieces came out of a home where they were used, but really nothing to worry about here. They are in terrific shape to accent a cup & saucer or Royal Worcester china collection, or for elegant use.
If you are interested in purchasing more than one plate, please e-mail us prior to placing the order. The system has been set up to calculate shipping costs for one plate and will not provide you the cost savings for shipping more than one plate in the same package. We will need to calculate that for you. |
