Vintage Sydenstricker white Embassy plate This piece was made in Brewster MA on Cape Cod in the 1960s. The Sydenstricker Glass Company is still in business though founder and visionary Bill Sydenstricker has passed away in 1994 but the company he founded continues his work. Here is what they company says about their glass: In the mid 1960's on Cape Cod, Bill Sydenstricker developed a new craft inspired by the extensive research he had conducted while at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on early Egyptian art.

This piece of vintage Sydenstricker glass is 4 inches wide and has a fluted rim. It is signed Syd on the reverse and is in excellent condition. I believe this pattern is part of the Embassy line.

Click for more detail...
4495
Harris Strong B-51 Console bowl Measuring 9 inches across and standing 2 1/2 inches tall, this great Mid Century Eames era piece is an example of the earlier work by Harris Strong of New York City. Though he is most well known today for his tiles and wall art, he started his company producing more three dimensional functional decorative objects such as lamps, bowls and of course ashtrays. This bowl has a teal green underglaze and is decorated with a swirling chocolate brown/black spiral pattern. It is in excellent shape though it does have some glaze pops which occurred during manufacture. The underside of the bowl is done in Harris Strong's characteristic high gloss black glaze. The piece is signed B-51. It is a great example of a very talented Mid Century icon. Add it to your Mid Century American pottery collection today.

4439
Paul Mccobb Jackson china Frost jar Designed by Mid-Century designer Paul McCobb (1918-1969) and produced in 1962 by the Jackson China Company of Falls Creek, PA, this Frost pattern covered jar was part of a line of patterns from the Contempri line. The porcelain body was produced in Japan as part of the Jackson Internationale line. The decal a McCobb design which features stylized snowflakes outlined in two tones of gray over a white background. Someone tried to color in some of the snowflakes. I didn't want to use any cleaner to remove them. They even add a certain quirky charm! The jar is 8 inches tall to the top of the knob of the lid. The lid only carries the Frost design. Fully marked on the bottom and in excellent condition. Add it to your Mid-Century American dinnerware collection today.

4812
Bitossi Londi Rimini blue 12 inch vase Designed by the great Italian designer Aldo Londi for the Bitossi firm which was contracted as part of the Raymor line of exports in the 1950s-1960s, this is one tall Rimini blue vase. It features a rich deep blue glaze and incised dots and a paisley like design. It is signed on the bottom in incised stamped letters ITALY and the shape number 69/2. Bitossi has recently re-introduced pieces from the Rimini line but this shape is not among those shown on its website. There is some rim roughness at top, but no chips, just glaze loss. All in all, put a bunch of peonies in it and plunk it on a Heywood-Wakefield blond table. Stunning!!

Design Technics 12 inch oblong low dish In the late 1950s and early 1960s, two Alfred University graduates, Lee and Samuel Rosen, founded a design studio in Stroudsburgh PA called Design Tehnics. They used heavy dark red Pennsylvania clay, incised design and modest slip decoration. Marked DESIGN TECHNICS on base (few DT pieces were ever artist signed), this biomorphic 12 inch long low dish or bowl has a light gray underglaze and a mottled chocolate brown overglaze. 5005
Raymor Bitossi Italy sgraffito bottle vase This bottle shaped vase stands 15 inches tall. It is covered with both vertically incised lines and indentations horizontally in the body of the piece. The piece has been painted in black, deep pink, and gold done in horizontal bands. It is simply a stunning piece of Eames era Midcentury ceramic art. The bottom is signed V222/43 and the word Italy in bold black letters. I would guess that the piece is Bitossi by the way the IT of Italy is written. It is in excellent shape. It would great on a Paul McCobb piece or even a Noguchi table.

Seth Thomas Speed Read dial clock This is Model E039 000 in a beige case made by Seth Thomas most likely in the late 1940s to 1950s. I remember a desk closk with a dial like this on my father's desk at his office. I was fascinated by the turning numbers and dials. I guess now we would consider it a very early digital style read clock. It has the number 679 in black ink on the label on the bottom. It is in running condition and would add a funky touch to your home. There are no cracks or chips to the plastic case. Ready to go!
