Measuring 13 inches square this signed Georges Briard example is a toleware tray which was painted gold on the front in two tones. The decoration is the standard stylized abstract two dimensional fruit so common to Briard's work. Three pears and three apples are done in shades of green, red cream and black. A great example of Briard's design. A similar example can be seen on page 77 of the Leslie Pina book titled Designed & Signed. This toleware tray is in excellent condition. |
