Measuring 14 1/4 inches long x 8 3/4 inches wide, this is a very early piece of Wendell August Forge as can be seen by the mark with the Inc included and the widely spaced #605. The scene depicts three finely detailed seahorses swimming with bubbles coming from them. The simply turned handles and the size of the lip are also indications that this is an early piece. It is in very good shape but does have some surface wear and a bit of pitting, but it will display well. It is a very good example of the superlative early workmanship of Wendell August Forge. The piece was most likely made in the late 1930s prior to the move to Grove City, PA from where the company started in Brockway, PA. |
