Produced by Vermont Mid-Century studio potter Stanley Ballard, a student of Glidden Parker at Alfred University in the 1940s who worked in the Burlington area, this signed and dated 1945 vase is the earliest date I have yet encountered. It stands 6 inches tall 2 4 1/2 inches wide x 3 1/4 inches deep. This ovoid shape is reminiscent of Glidden's shapes. The early bluish mottled glaze is gorgeous on this piece.
