Produced by Vermont Mid-Century studio potter Stanley Ballard, a student of Glidden Parker at Alfred University in the 1940s who worked in the Burlington area, this signed and dated 1945 vase is the earliest date I have yet encountered. It stands 6 inches tall 2 4 1/2 inches wide x 3 1/4 inches deep. This ovoid shape is reminiscent of Glidden's shapes. The early bluish mottled glaze is gorgeous on this piece. It is in excellent condition. Add it to your American art pottery or Mid Century art potter collection today. |
