Produced in California by the Edwards Star company, this 8 3/4 inch enamel dish shows this firm's characteristic use of a bold base color and oblong jewels alternating with large striated jewels. There are 3 red oblong jewels and three striated sections. The edge of this particular dish is strange and may be the result of firing as there is almost a beaded edge to the dish. There is no edge chipping or damage. However this is wear to the center of the dish like knife wear on a plate. Still, it makes a striking piece of wall art or table decoration.
This dish was made for the Washington, D.C department store Julius Garfinkel. What an interesting Mid-Century Washinton D.C. item. Buy it, put it on your cocktail table and impress those Congressional interns! |
