Produced by Vermont Mid-Century studio potter Stanley Ballard, a student of Glidden Parker at Alfred University in the 1940s who worked in the Burlington area, this dish measures 4 inches square and is in a yellow glaze with the chocolate brown underglaze visible at the rim, which is standard for Ballard. What is surprising is on the back of the piece. This is an example of Ballard's premium work. This is incised on the bottom with the following words: Northeast Shrine Association Burlington Vermont Sept 9-10 1960. It is in excellent shape and would make a great addition to both a Ballard collection or a collection of Shriner collectible items. |
