Signed with the Continental Silverlook Hand Wrought trademark and shape number 555, this is one useful and practical piece of American Art Deco aluminum. Many companies used glass inserts in their aluminum serving ware which was extremely popular in the United States just prior and following WWII.
The Continental Company's most popular pattern for collectors today is their Rose featured patterns. The handsles on the serrated edge base features three roses each. The cover features the characteristic rose finial, made of a rose bud and four leaves. The signed Pyrex glass insert is a 1 1/2 quart bowl signed 023 and A-AA with T.M Reg and Made in U.S.A as well. So, it's a genuine Made in America collectible.
The glass insert measures 9 1/4 inches across and stands 3 inches high. When assemble, the three pieces stand 6 inches tall and measures about 12 inches from handle to handle. It's a great practical piece you can take to your next potluck or covered supper. Fill it up with pretzels or potato salad! The condition is very good for a vintage item. There are no long or deep scratches on it. The base shows consistent wear as would be expected. Great item! |
