Produced by Vermont Mid-Century studio potter Stanley Ballard, a student of Glidden Parker at Alfred University in the 1940s who worked in the Burlington area, this very early studio piece meaures 10 1/8 inches long x 3 inches wide x 2 1/4 inches tall. It is signed with the interlaced intials SB, for Stanley Ballard. Only the earliest works were signed this way. It has a thick application of the early mustard yellow glaze over the chocolate brown underglaze. It is in excellent condition. Later examples of this shape were larger and signed Ballard Vermont. |
