Terry Crider started his glasswork in 1976. He is self taught. This studio glass artist has put out a limited amount of work over the past 32 years. He uses NO MOLDS and his only help has been his wife Donna. I had an email from Terry and Donna in 2002 stating that he doesn't think it would be fair to the collectors to make any of the same things again. They have decided, if they do make glass again, they are not going to make anything that they have made in the past. He stopped blowing glass around 1990 and didn't start blowing again until 1999. He's a great artist with VERY few early pieces out there. This vase is in mint condition and is signed and dated 1977 on the base. I believe this is the first year he began sellling his glass
This Crider 1977 white vertically striped vase is hand blown glass - a purple layer with white pulled stripes all of which is irridized. All the decoration was done by Donna Crider. In this vase there are also V lines between the vertical stripes. I have never seen this particular decoration on another Crider vase to date. It's hard to imagine the amount of work that went into this beautiful, hand made bud vase.
This vase stands about 4 3/4 inches high. It is a fantastic piece of American 20th century art glass! It is in perfect condition. |
