More Than McCoy

Circa: 1800's
Manufacturer: S. Fielding & Co,
Antique Staffordshire tea biscuit jar. This is a big fat jar even though it appears somewhat small in the photo, I had to take the photo from further away to get it all in. This Victorian era earthenware jar has incised EPNS Made in England on lid, = electroplated nickel silver, aka silver plate. The bottom is backstamped in brown: With Peek, Frean & Co's Compliments, crown symbol, S.F. & Co. England, and an initial; and there is a raised square with a number in it = S. Fielding & Co., Stoke, Staffordshire. No chips or cracks; but does have some crazing. The floral design appears to be transferware with some hand painting. It stands 6 tall; top rim is 4.5 wide. There is some age/wear and pits on the upper metal rim, and one little crackle in the silverplate rim edge, see photos; but overall, this item is quite nice. A delightful jar for your collection! 11/14ggar#
