  • Antique Sewing Scratch Awl Handle Peg Shaped

Great Expectations Antiques

Circa: early 1900's
Condition: Good++
Manufacturer: not marked
This is a very nice, turn of the century peg shaped awl handle, featuring the steel collet type chuck, so the steel tip is removable, and others can be used as well. The collet sleeve is thread to loosen or tighten the chuck to firmly hold the pin or needle in place. This one comes with a scratch awl type pin. The wood appears to be fruitwood, most likely applewood, and is in very good shape, some minor wear, a few tiny dings noted. This style is much like the Stanley No. 10 sewing awl haft, as it is 4.2" long. A nice tool for sewing of canvas, leather and other heavy fabrics!
