Unusual color combo on this Art Nouveau sash pin - usually it is purple and green. Lots of nice filigree detail, middle is a diamond shape and all others triangles, even the little ones and all bezel-set. Flat gold finish shows little wear.
In the cast sash pin style but not as big (1 1/2 inches long), this charming amethyst pin is at least 100 years old. The cut glass open-back stone is flawless and shines brightly. Small side stones are purple also but look darker because of setting. Gold wash finish shows some wear as seen in photo. C clasp.

Exceptional 1904 Vintage Rare Art Nouveau Era R.f.outcault Auto Girl Print
Vintage Art Nouveau Original Pen and Ink sketch drawn by artist/illustrator R.F. Outcault in 1904. Taken from a 1904 issue of the Burr-McIntosh Monthly- an exceptionally crafted art nouveau Era magazine featuring illustrators, painters and leading photographers of the day- this is a wonderful image which pokes gentle fun at the foibles of motoring when it was still a relative novelty. Lovely yet lively image of a pretty young miss, gleefully steering her car with cap flying and hair coming undone. There is a ditty underneath her which says; Lamps in front and lamps beside, Some are seen and some will hide, Some are green but those of red, Say Clear the road or you'll be dead Where's the man who wouldn't stand, In the mud or on the sand, Till ground up in pieces fine, Gazing in those lamps of thine? R.F. Outcault is arguably one of the finest humorous illustrators of the Art Nouveau Era and most certainly cemented his place in American Pop Culture history by creating the infamous Yellow Kid, giving birth to the modern comic strip and creating the charming advertising icon, Buster Brown and his faithful pup Tige. This original pen and ink sketch is relatively rare, created just at the time when his career gained momentum by the creation of Buster Brown. Taken from a 1904 Burr-McIntosh the condition is crisp and white- three holes at the side are where the ribbon for the publication was wound in 1904. Exceptional image you will not run across again- probably only printed in the pages of the magazine. A fantastic gift for the collector of the unusual, motor related items, pretty-girl art or comics in general. Measures 7 x 12. 1904 Delightful Vintage Art Nouveau Ad- Romantic Couple Take Idyllic Ride in Blohmstrom Motor Boat- Fabulous Flying Fish Detail. Scenic and Dreamy Original Black and White Vintage Art Nouveau Ad taken from a early 1904 issue of McClure's Magazine. Perfect example of the flights of fancy that artists were capable of achieving during the halcyon days of the Art Nouveau Era. Dashing young couple are seen in two vignettes; at the top they formally glide through a waterside scene the gent far too busy rowing his craft to pitch any woo- at the bottom the same couple clinch closely enjoying each others unchaperoned company thanks in large part to the new, quiet, easily run Motor Boat crafted by the C.H. Blohmstrom company of Detroit. While done in simple black and white, there is a graceful dignity to the imagery which also features wonderfully drawn undulating waves filled with contented flying fish. Interesting that as early as 1904 manufactures were equating speed and modernity with subtle innuendos of romance always appealing to the consumer! 1908 Exceptionally Rare Art Nouveau Ad- Divine Dancer In Pink Prefers Salome Silk Pongee And Shantung Gorgeous Pal Artwork
1908 Exceptionally Rare Vintage Art Nouveau Ad- Sensuous Dancing Siren in Pink prefers R & T Silks Pongee and Shantung Fabrics Gorgeous Pal Artwork. Absolutely Fantastic Original Rare Vintage Art Nouveau Ad taken from the back pages of a 1908 Burr- McIntosh Monthly Magazine. This image has a lot to offer despite some flaws. Done by the deliciously daring and sophisticated French illustrator Pal, it is the epitome of early exotic pin-up style art. Pal's work was often done with color humor sensuality and a touch of whimsicality- frequently seen in large format posters on the streets of his native Paris- and still highly sought after a century later. This wonderful image was created for the R & T Silks Company, meant to promote the new line of Arabic and Oriental inspired fabrics for the year 1908- a year in which the exotic allure of far-off Asia and Arabia were in high-demand due in large part to the popularity of Leon Bakst's daring costumes for the Ballet Russe. The image is done in richly bright warm shades of orange and pink with the background in contrasting dark green- note the bare feet covered in toe-rings and the sparkling emerald and gold of the jeweled girdle. Ad is rare, most likely only appearing in a limited number of magazines such as Burr-McIntosh Monthly. I feel that the image far outweighs the condition in this instance- edges are rough and there is a large corner piece missing with some browning around the area that is now missing. Forget the flaws though and do concentrate on the absolute allure and beauty of this magnificent rare century old image. Ad is done on heavy stock paper- which also adds to it's luster- measures 8 x 11- simply a fabulous bit of Art Nouveau artistry by one of the most talented French illustrators of the period. Matted and framed properly it will be gorgeous on display with any decor. All items at A Fine Madness Collectibles are guaranteed original Vintage, Antique Ads, Prints, Artwork, Postcards, Hollywood and Paper Ephemera- never reproductions or copies. Sculpture of the Inuit is descended from the ancient craft of carving, honed for generations on the land. Most objects traditionally made were useful in very specific ways. A nomadic people could take little else with them besides the tools of their daily living. But a few small objects were carved. Such things as delicate earrings, dance masks, amulets, fetish figures, intricate combs and labrets are precious museum pieces today. In recent decades, Inuit have turned these skills to producing larger works whose austere beauty has astonished the art world. This item is 10 x 4 inches, unsigned, and in excellent condition.

The bloomed gold finish shows only a little wear. 5/8 inch cabachon, faceted on back is a topaz stone (glass?) and shows no damage. 6 tiny prongset topaz stones highlight the pendant. The dainty gold finish chain is 18 inches long with spring clasp, and is probably not original.
Maybe this is Bohemia, but I believe it is pre-Czechoslovakia. The blue-purple glass surely is Czech and the brass filigree has the right look. 19 inches plus 2 1/4 pendant and spring clasp. Only the faintes of scratches on large faceted stone.
Here's a large (3 1/4 x 2 inches) of a silver alloy topped with delicate filigree and set with foiled art glass stones - bezelset. Really hard to photograph - light problems. The base has some dark spots wich might polish out and one of the small stones had a tiny chip that my friend Rusty fixed with nailpolish. I can't tell which it was even with a loupe. Nevertheless, condition is considered in pricing.
An Art Nouveau sash pin brings the swamp to life - green stones with lilies and pads and wonderful cattails. It is gold finish cast brass with overlaid cast flowers. Measures 3 x 1 1/2. Jewels are a nice swampy green semi-opaque glass. The center stone has a dimple (from formation?) but it is not a chip and not noticeable without peering closely. Note pinstem repair on back - funny the way it hangs out beyond frame but it is very stable. I think it is one of the Attleboro or Providence Art Nouveau pieces from the very early 20th century.
Pardon my gushing, but this pin is adorable! It has all the usual filigree but over it strawberries grow, leaves and all. The strawberry pink center seems appropriate to and has no dings. Gold finish, C clasp, 2 3/4 x 1 3/4 inches.
This is a rare one - the Princess Alexandria look from the Art Nouveau period - she wore chokers to cover scars on her swan-like neck. This beauty is gold on brass (wear shows on back some) with double chains at ends which could easily be adjusted from 16 inches that sit at base of neck to shorter length that would truly be a choker. Very good condition - no dings on open backed, deep pink faceted glass and I tightened all jump rings so it won't come unhitched.
The 1 1/4 inch pink stone w black veins look like a rock, not glass but I am not sure what kind - rhodonite? Thaat is described as mottled pink with black patterns. Or maybe just a nice try at looking like rhodonite. 3 inches by 2 1/4 with flowers, swags, gold finish and rolled edges. Very good condition. C clasp.
Charming sash pin from the Art Nouveau period with flowers flowing around a cluster of white prongset grapes - Chardonnay? Novel net background. Measures 2 3/4 x 2 inches and has lovely antique silver finish which glows in front so excellent condition though silver shows a little wear in back. C clasp. Beautiful example of sash pin.
This beautiful cut blue stone (glass since I can see one tiny bubble against the light) is 1 inch by 1/2 and set in a very attractive goldfilled seting. A small circle with 2 knobs and hashmarks in the middle is a signature I can't identify. C clasp, excellent condition.
Pretty, pretty blue stone is beautifully set and openbacked, adorned with layers of feathery leaves and flowers. 3 inches by 2 1/4 with a C clasp. Gold finish is probably goldfill and in excellent condition as is the stone. Cast metal, not stamped. I guess it is the work of Providence craftsman of the early 1900's.
Lovely 2 1/2 inch by 2 inch Art Nouveau sash pin has bezeled round cut glass purple or amethyst stone with no scratches or chips - I thought it had a very shallow scratch until I brushed a cat hair off! Perhaps a touch of Arts & Crafts, also. Goldplate over brass(?) is in excellent condition. C clasp, no marks.
Very nice sash pin with classy lattice work measures 2 1/2 x 2 1/8 with a C clasp. Purple stone looks more black because the back is closed but it does catch light from the sides on its facets and has no dings. Brass leans up nicely - very good condition.
Art Nouveau pin here has a touch of Arts and Craft around the edges and an openback amethyst cabochon in perfect condition. The gold finish brooch measures 2 1/2 by almost 2 inches. C clasp, excellent condition.
This dime size pair of sweet Nouveau pins each have the same raised lady's head. They appear to be sterling but too old to requiring marking. Probably served as buttons. View of back shows pin made all of one piece of looped wire, including C clasp. Excellent condition except for 1 small bulge in front of lady where pin back is attached. $39 price is for both.
The goldfill on this pin is thick, pretty and unworn and the overlay of filigree in a contrasting shade is the perfect frosting. 2 1/2 x 1 3/4 with C clasp. One inch amethyst faceted stone is ding-free. Pin really shows no wear.
These creatures are dainty - entire goldfilled pin measures a bit less that an inch across. Luckily they are trying to bite the small clear stones - the red one would be a mouthful. Rather unusual, the cresent moon behind the dragons and it moves though I think it is meant to be above heads since that is where the pinback is. Very good condition, C clasp.
Very substantial Art Nouveau sash pin has lavish feathery swirls. Buckle style and probably was exactly that as the C clasp and pin stem look like they were added on and there are stumps where the back of the buckle were removed - but everything on the back is neat and smooth as pictured. 3 x 1 3/4 inches, excellent condition.
Maybe not garnets but certainly garnet color, these 2 bezelset stones highlight a frilly Art Nouveau pin. 2 x 1 1/2 inch pin has lots of openwork, leaves and flowers - all dainty. Each side has a little pin that might have had a jewel - maybe pearl? but if there were pearls, their absence does not detract. Goldfilled, excellent condition, C clasp.
Nice, very nice - this pretty Art Nouveau pin has a beautiful 3/8 inch oval cabachon of amethyst color (no scratches!) highlighted on each side by leaves and clear rhinestones. Gold or very heavy goldfill shows no wear but some darkening of clear stones. C clasp. Back view too.
Yes, Art Nouveau period, I believe and a friend insists this is a June bug - but I think its really a beetle. Whatever, she is impressive: the pin is 2 1/2 x 2 and the creature's head and body are nearly 1 1/2. See back view too. C clasp, very good condition. just a little less shine on flat sides.
I see elements of Arts and Crafts in this pin from the Art Nouveau period - but they did overlap. 4 inches long, it is bloomed and shiny goldfill with a 1/2 inch openback bezelset topaz stone. C clasp, excellent condition. Classy.
Silver or white metal (German silver?) is used for this unusual old sash pin - call it Art Nouveau style - or maybe Arts & Crafts. 2 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches, it has brownish copper setting like I have never see - I think it is plastic! I find fine asymetrical work in the center quite charming. C clasp, very good condition.
Green gold leaves provide a contrast to the gilt finish on the Art Nouveau sash pin. the oval setting measures 3 x 1 1/2 inches and flawless cut topaz glass stone is openbacked. C clasp, excellent condition.
It's small but really cute, this Art Nouveau pin which measures 1 1/8 x 1 inch. The openback cut amethyst glass oval has no chips or scratches and shows beautifully. Gold finish - fill, plate? - shows no wear and C clasp works fine.

Very eye-catching, this 3 x 1 1/2 inch Art Nouveau pin with 3 openback amethysts tucked into the twining leaves - or are they blossoms? They might be real since they are more pale than the unusual glass. Gold finish shines up nicely for an antique look. C clasp, no damage to stones.
This pretty filigree sash pin measures 3 inches by 2 and has a bloomed gold finish that polishs to bright on the highpoints. The unusually shaped red stone in bezel is slightly crooked - a sign that it was applied by hand. Back has a little solder in one spot but it doesn't show and it doesn't look like a repair. C clasp. Price considers the little flaws.
4 inches x 2 inches, coral glass cabochons, gilt figree and hammered metal, C clasp, very good condition. Made in early 1900's and by somebody that could multitask - it could have been a buckle as shown on seam on back.
I suspect this was a kit, ordered over 100 years ago from a catalog for the budding beader. The pale purple beads are beautifully worked to form the pouch of a coin purse and then the fancy silver Art Nouveau top is stitched in. 3 inches diameter, lid, 2 inches and latch works very well. A little wear shows on top but still very good condition.

Here's a pretty little (well, not so little) sash pin that measures 2 3/4 x 1 1/2 inches with an open center. The 2 amethyst stones are openback and sparkly. Goldfinish shows a little wear but it shines up nicely. C clasp.
Nice little primitive type ANTIQUE wall shelf. Is made entirely out of woood - could be hard maple, poplar, elm, the back has aged to a slight reddish tint. Wood is a little rough in feel. Was stained a dark walnut color and you can just barely see the handpainted gold detailing that has faded over the years. This is old, so it has character. Nice piece to leave as is,(needs a little cleaning and T.L.C.), or can be refinished, which would make it a pretty update. We can see as a slight defect is the last,(or top) shelf, depending on how you hang it, has a little *split* approximately 2 inches in the wood that is missing a layer. A slight separation in the wood on the side, approximately 2 inches, needing to be reglued. Measures 15 inches high,(point to point) x 11-1/2 inches wide x approx. 4-1/2 inches deep. (Actual depth of shelf at largest point is 4 inches.) Thanks for visiting DOGWOOD TRAIL ANTIQUES! :O)
Quite the pin for a Victorian lady in a heavy coat or jacket or maybe in the hair. The wonderful pattern of silver suggests Art Nouveau and measures 3 inches by 1 across top. Bowed 3/4 inch out and set with a real amethyst (I think - it shows flaws unlike glass). Tube hinge, C clasp and pin is so long it bends up a bit at end to fit in clasp - makes it very secure. It has a strange knob on the back - to hold it secure? Beats me - see picture. Excellent condition. Old enough to have no marks.
This dear litle Art Nouveau pin is goldfilled and the leaves appear to be green gold. It's 1 3/4 inches long and has a lovely deep rosy oval openback stone set in an angled bezel. C clasp is stamped C & G which may have been Cutler & Granberry, Attleboro, Massachusetts at end of 19th century. Very good condition after 100 + years!
This beautiful Art Nouveau sash pin measures 3 x 2 inches but still looks dainty. Goldfilled and sturdy, it has an oval amethyst cut glass stone entwined with a flower in the open center. C clasp, excellent condition.
Beautiful Art Nouveau hair comb is decorated with gold flowers and vines - or are they snakes? - with pearls and a oval pink stone for accent. Curved comb of sturdy tortoise (plastic, I assume) measures 5 inches and teeth are almost 2 inches. Excellent condition except that the flatbacked cut pink stone has noticeable spots on back foil. Pricing considers this flaw.
The mottled coral colored oval glass stone on this large sash pin is quite an unusual color - no grapes like it as far as I know. But the gilded grape cluster, vines and leaves look pretty real, very graceful. Pin measures 3 1/4 x 2 inches and stone is 3/4 inch. C clasp, Very good condition.
2 inches diameter - This is a circle that curves upward. Marked GLP and symbol that looks like a snail. Solid cast metal, probably brass with guilding that is in excellent condition. C clasp. A classic. See view of the back for markings.
Art Nouveau from the word go, this showy pendant was found with a swivel chain, as if used as a fob - pretty fancy fob! I favor it as a pendant that measures 3 inches from top of bezel set amethyst colored stone to the lovely cut teardrop of the same color. It measures 1 1/4 across the wings, decorated with leaves and a vine that appear to hold the drop. Chain obviously isn't original but is an appropriate style - 25 inches of antique gold finish with a spring clasp. Back is interesting too - looks like it wanted to be a dress clip. Have you every seen anything like it?
