The artists signature is in the lower right hand corner in the darker background area and is hard to photograph. Biography: CARL BLOCH ~ (1834-1890). At age twenty-five he found himself in Rome, a hub of European artistic learning. Bloch eagerly accepted the ambience of this centuries-old culture. He was greatly influenced by the masterworks of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. This influence is evident in many of his paintings throughout his productive career. Bloch studied in Rome for about six years. Afterwards, he returned to his Danish homeland where he lived for the remainder of his life. On his return home in 1865, Bloch received a prestigious commission to paint a series of paintings for the National Historical Museum at the Frederiksborg Castle. The castle had experienced a fire several years before, and the chapel required new artwork. Calling on his broad experience and his deep appreciation for religious subjects, Bloch produced his famous 'Life of Christ' over a period of fourteen years. These twenty-three masterworks present the story of the Savior from the Annunciation to the Resurrection. Today, some have recognized Carl Bloch as perhaps the greatest artist ever to interpret the life and death of Christ. Contemporary artists, working with this difficult subject, pay tribute to the old master. **This is one from his famous series of illustrations.**

Sweet illustration of a little Victorian girl standing on the tips of her shoes trying to give her large pet, a watchful guardian St. Bernard dog a treet of a sugar cube. In her hand she is holding a silver sugar bowl. She is wearing a pinafore apron over her dress. Beautiful depiction of innocence. This IS AN ORIGINAL antique print. Vesuvius Volcano Eruption 1895 Antique Art Supplement
Vesuvius Volcano Eruption 1895 Antique Art Supplement THIS IS A VERY ~ RARE, RARE, RARE HARD-TO-FIND ANTIQUE PRINT.... Is the ONLY one that I have ever seen in the 40 years of collecting. Original 1895 Antique Chromolithograph print of the famous historical calamity that happened in AD 79. Mount Vesuvius is a stratovolcano in the Gulf of Naples, Italy. Mount Vesuvius is best known for its eruption in AD 79 that led to the burying and destruction of the Roman cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum. That eruption ejected a cloud of stones, ash and fumes to a height of 20.5 miles, spewing molten rock and pulverized pumice at the rate of 1.5 million tons per second, ultimately releasing a hundred thousand times the thermal energy released by the Hiroshima bombing. An estimated 16,000 people died due to hydrothermal pyroclastic flows. The only surviving eyewitness account of the event consists of two letters by Pliny the Younger to the historian Tacitus. Vesuvius has erupted many times since and is the only volcano on the European mainland to have erupted within the last hundred years. Today, it is regarded as one of the most dangerous volcanoes in the world because of the population of 3,000,000 people living nearby and its tendency towards explosive (Plinian) eruptions. It is the most densely populated volcanic region in the world. It is SIGNED by the artist in the lower right hand corner: LEROY. Which is RARE in itself, as this artist mostly drew florals. Print is TITLED: THE WORLD FAMOUS VESUVIUS, which is at the very bottom, behind the frame. Providence: ART SUPPLEMENT TO THE NEW YORK RECORDER, FEB. 17TH, 1895. EXCELLENT, UN FADED condition. Is a night scene but you can clearly see everything. the red glow and explosion from the volcano in its beginning terror. Can see the Roman cities of Pompeii in the foreground, the vast ocean between. The many tiny ships in harbor and in the water. As the moon as blood red. GREAT RARE COLLECTIBLE. DON'T MISS OUT!! Housed in its old, wood frame that has lots of various raised carved designs. Original old glass. Frame we did respray as the frame was rather dull for its age. The frame size can also be called a HALF (1/2) YARDLONG, YARD LONG. Overall the frame measures 17-5/8 inches wide by 9-5/8 inches high. The back print measures 16 inches wide by 8-1/4 inches high. Vintage Louis Icart Lithograph Zest, lady Russian Wolfhounds, ornat
**Negotiated Special Reduced Pricing to Customer. Wants to ONLY BUY THE PRINT, No Frame.** Beautifully illustrated original vintage print that portraits a lovely woman attempting to throw a ball to her four Russian Wolfhound dogs. The print uses minimal colors that plays off each other. You have flesh tones and reds against the soft blues, grays, and blacks. The woman in short bobbed red wavy hair, as you can see the pink tongue on the dog on the farthest right. This is a vintage lithograph print illustration SIGNED by the renowned ARTIST: LOUIS ICART, in the lower right hand corner, slightly above the wood frame. Louis Justin Laurent Icart (1888 - 1950) Louis Justin Laurent Icart was born in Toulouse in 1890 and died in Paris in 1950. He lived in New York City in the 1920s, where he became known for his Art-Deco color etchings of glamourous women. He was first son of Jean and Elisabeth Icart and was officially named Louis Justin Laurent Icart. The use of his initials L.I. would be sufficient in this household. Therefore, from the moment of his birth he was dubbed 'Helli'. EXCELLENT, UNFADED, PRISTENE CONDITION. Slight age toning on the outside border and on the back of print. Lithograph measures 16 inches wide by 21 inches high. Believe this print dates approx. 1930's-1940's. This illustration is what is called an issued Printers Proof. What they produced first before there initial run. Printers proofs would have marks of a cross in the margins. Is housed in its old antique frame that on the outer and inner border is a plain smooth design, then in the center a nice inner lace and tiny flowers made gesso material . In great condition of the gesso, just one lace piece missing at the bottom of the frame. Maintains its Old Original Wavy Antique Glass. The frame is one of the nicer ones we have seen for its age. Does have some minor scratches and bumps in the wood frame. Still displays nicely. Resprayed the frame with a nice gold coloring. Frame is Very Heavy. Overall measures 18-5/8 inches wide by 23-3/4 inches high, about 1-1/2 inch wide frame. We cleaned up the glass for you and replaced the older cardboard backer. Virgillo Tojetti 1894nude Baby Cherub Angel Sleeping, roses
Sweet ORIGINAL antique illustration of a tired little nude baby cherub angel nymph sleeping in the clouds which are surrounding baby with pretty rose flowers. THIS ART ILLUSTRATION IS BY THE RENOWNED ARTIST: VIRGILLO TOJETTI. IT IS SIGNED BY THE ARTIST IN THE UPPER RIGHT HAND CORNER: V. TOJETTI '94. HIS WORKS ARE HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE AND DON'T LAST LONG. Lovely, Lovely RARE CHROMOLITHOGRAPH PRINT that makes it more desirable in this stunning SUPER LARGE SIZE artwork. Was produced on a nice quality thicker paper stock. Coloring is still beautiful, as shown. The background does show some age toning. The sweet baby cherub angel sleeping baby with wavy brown hair, you can see her rosy cheeks and soft skin tones on her naked body. Angel has a white ribbon along her body that is attached to her soft blue holder that contains archery bows. Pretty cabbage roses are hues of reds, pinks, and whites. (Sorry if you see any glare on the glass from lighting in some of my pictures.) Saying that, there are a few minor flaws with this lovely illustration. You can't really see it as with the background it blends well, since the tear is clean and tight. Located about from the top of the print a little over to the right. A pin dot hole below the red rose on the right near the bottom, and another pin dot hole on the white rose to the right of the babys left elbow. Along the top edge runs a faint horizontal water stain, again light. (On the back of print you can see the outline.) I believe the darker toning of the upper left corner area is part of the coloring of the created print, like clouds are different in the sky, so you can see the fluffy cloud the angel is sleeping on. Not a waterstain, as it does not show that on the back at all if it was. For any antique lover, especially a collector of this artist, these flaws still would be welcomed considering the RARITY of this collectible print. DISPLAYED ON YOUR WALL THESE WOULD NOT BE REALLY NOTICED. Housed in its lovely ornate border designed wood frame. Has a nice design of feathers and swirling. Frame has a nice weight to it. Compliments nicely to this angelic print. Overall measures a LARGER 28-1/2 inches wide, 22-1/2 inches high, approximately 3-1/2 inch wide frame border. Back print measures 24 inches wide by 18 inches high. We replaced the old deteriorated cardboard backer and the brown kraft paper, cleaned up the glass, and tighten up the old metal wiring on the back, ready for you to hang up on your wall. THIS PRINT WOULD BLEND IN WELL IN AN VICTORIAN DECOR, A CHILD'S BEDROOM, A SHABBY TYPE CHIC COTTAGE DECOR, ART NOUVEAU, ART DECO TYPE PLACE. WITH THE UPCOMING HOLIDAY SEASON FAST APPROACHING, WOULD MAKE A NICE GIFT FOR SOMEONE. BEAUTIFUL HIGHLY DESIRABLE, ~ HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE ILLUSTRATION BY THIS ARTIST!! EXCEPTIONAL RARE ILLUSTRATION! The higher shipping costs (in the continental U.S.A), are since this is a LARGE picture, would require a larger box with sufficient packing materials. Shipping company does charge extra for this being an OVER-SIZED box.

A victorian woman and a little girl are taking a walk alongside the mill. Great hues of the setting sun which left streaks of sunlight yet in the overcase sky. Wonderful classic scene if you like to collect winter white snow scenes. ARTIST'S BIOGRAPHY: William Henry Chandler (1854 - 1928) Chandler is widely credited as being America's Foremost Pastel Artist. Living in New Jersey and working from his studios in New York City Chandler probably produced more original pastel art than any other known pastel artist. A deeply religious man, Chandler created primarily landscape scenes, but also produced a fine assortment other fruit and dead game still lives, seascapes, and occasionally some foreign scenes as well. Most Chandler pastels were signed **Chandler**, frequently Chandler pastels left the studio unsigned. Often when sold in pairs, only one pastel of the pair would be signed. Chandlers work became of interest in late 1980 and since value of his work is going up every year. Between 1887-1903, William Henry Chandler's work was produced as color or chromolithograph prints by such publishers as Hallen and Weiner (NY), Joseph Hoover (Phila), and Mueller and Lucksinger Co. (NY). His work appeared as machine-produced prints in the Taber-Prang Art Catalog as well. Art prints were often 15x20 in size, although many were cropped over the years to fit into specific frames. Calendar prints and other print forms were usually produced in a multitude of sizes. Although Chandler is becoming well known for his original pastels, he is also gathering quite a following for his original prints due to the fact that many original prints did not survive without damage or were discarded over the years due to their original low price. The Art of William Henry Chandler Starting around 1887 Chandler began producing his original art as an alternative to the larger-scale print runs of Currier & Ives, Taber-Prang, and other major print-makers of the time. Chandler operated under the trade name of **W.H. Chandler and Co.** in New York City's Lower Manhattan, a business that he ran with his brother, Frank Chandler (1857-1912). William Chandler was responsible for creating the original art while Frank was responsible for the framing, packing, shipping, and at times, for retail and wholesale art sales. Christ In Gethsemane, religious Antique Chromolithograph Framed
Christ In Gethsemane,Religious Antique Chromolithograph Framed Gesso Print Lovely antique framed print we obtained at auction. A large sofa size or great for a kitchen, or dining room. Is a print of Jesus Christ in Gethsemane kneeling at a rock. The print is surrounding by beautiful large flowers. At the top is a grouping of Chrysanthemum flowers and at the right side a grouping of white peony flowers. At the lower left hand corner are people in a field gathering wheat. A few small imperfections with the chromolithograph image. Horizontally at the right corner area are two creases, another crease going out from the top of the Christ print. At the lower right area a small crease from edge and a longer one along the bottom. Then at the very bottom right corner is some missing print image wear. ALL of them against the darker background. Not certain but the way the flowers were illustrated it quite possibly could be by the reknown artist: Paul De Longpre. You collectors please review photos to see if that is so. We like to clean up our antique framed prints before we list them for sale. When we did so, we got a little surprise on this print when we took it apart. We found out that the print of Christ in Gethsemane was placed over what was originally uses as a Holy Matrimony Certificate. (We tried to photograph it for you.) It was issued from: The State of Indiana, Married couple: Worth R. Buchanan to Bertha E. Dauearee, the 14th day of January 1909. Housed in its originally framed gorgeous large wood frame that has a design of flowers with their stems. The gold gesso is about 98% intact. Three corners have a piece missing, on the left edge a nick missing, and at the top about the middle some gesso missing. Is VERY BEAUTIFUL. Overall the frame measures 16-7/8 inches wide by 21-3/4 inches high. The back print measures 15-1/4 inches wide by 20 inches high. Baby Chicks, ornate Antique Gesso Frame, ben Austrian?
Antique Ornate Gesso Frame,Baby Chicks Gathering,Ben Austrian ? Artist. Not signed but appears to be his work. I found this lovely late 1800s chromolithograph print in a scrapbook that I rescused. It was too cute to not be in the public eye. The print does have some flaws, but still shows nicely. Hopefully someone would like to give this a new home. Basically the reflected price is more for the antique frame opposed to the artwork print. A group of small yellow baby chicks keeping together. Four along the ground and the other chick on top of a bucket filled with sand. Along the bottom edge is a white half of an egg shell. Lovely colors and is vibrant and vivid. Unfortunately there is a tear that comes up from the second chick on the left and goes up and across the chick on the far right under his neck. I taped the back of print to secure it. Print is housed in an original antique wood frame that is beautiful with ornate designs. Very minimal gesso loss. Restained the gold paint to the frame. Original old glass. Overall the frame measures 13-1/2 inches wide by 11-1/2 inches high, 2-1/4 inches wide border. The back print measures 10 inches wide by 8 inches high.
