Michelangelo David Tall Cast Marble & Resin Sculpture
Standing 14 1/4 inches tall on a 3 1/2 x 4 inch base which resembles the cobblestone roads of ancient times, this David statue, inspired by Michelangelo's David, portrays the Goliath slayer as muscular but relaxed and confident in his preparation for battle with the giant. The finely detailed cast marble and resin statue has David holding his slingshot almost casually over his left shoulder, while his right hand grasps the stone weapon. His face looks serene, not anxious or tense with worry. Rather, the viewer senses David's confidence in his ability to win out over Goliath. This David statue has a trademark in a rectangle located on the backside of the tree trunk, just above the base. The mark reads, ART ESA. Well designed and crafted, the sculpture is in fine condition, and captures a sense of David's strength and his resolve to defeat Goliath.
This intriguing and finely detailed Native Northwest totem sculpture stands 14 1/2 inches tall on a 4 1/2 x 5 1/4 inch rectangular base. Handcrafted in Vancouver, British Columbia the figure is a replica of a Haida Argillite totem honoring an esteemed ancestor, or telling of encounters with animals having supernatural powers. Bears, wolves, beavers, Thunderbirds are some of the animals represented on these unique totems. Years ago, the Haida Nation carved these totems either from wood, cedar being the most popular choice, or Argillite. Most of the Argillite, a black slate-like stone, came from the Queen Charlotte Islands, also known as Haida Gwaii. Many of the totems were carved from a single piece of Argillite, but because this stone was subject to chipping and flaking, larger totems were often carved from multiple pieces, which were then joined together. This Pearlite/cast stone statue is an accurate representation of the Haida Argillite totems and was handcrafted and hand painted. This substantial figure, weighing over 8 1/2 pounds before packaging, has Abalone eyes on the Grizzly Bear at the top of the totem. We do note some scuffing and wear to the base area and the smooth backside, but this is minor. The gold foil label attached to the backside reads, Pearlite, Handcrafted in Canada, Vancouver B.C. This totem is a fascinating example of diverse artwork, representing part of the history and culture of the Native North West Haida.

Debbie Patrick Framed San Francisco House Lithograph
A marvelous A-1 quality professionally framed Debbie Patrick lithograph, personally signed and dated 09/04/1994 by the artist. The total size of the glass covered watercolor is 17 1/2 x 14 1/2 inches, and it features a Victorian, Painted Lady style house at 819 Eddy Street, San Francisco. We obtained this lovely architectural print from a lady who had traveled to San Francisco in 1994, and attended a special gallery presentation of Ms. Patrick's watercolors at which the artist signed the purchased 819 Eddy Street print. The deep chocolate color matting complements the design and the composite frame with its wonderful scrolling treatment adds just the right Art Nouveau touch to Ms Patrick's fine print. We do note that there is a small crease in the print above the roof where the print leaves the matted area. This crease is really only noticed on close-up inspection, and most likely occurred during the framing process. The print has been secured with metal clip fasteners on the backside, and is covered in a velour fabric which does have some minor scuff marks, and this shows in our pictures. Debbie Patrick's architectural print of an elegant, restored San Francisco Painted Lady or Polychrome house would be a wonderful addition to a Victorian themed décor. Because of the overall dimensions of the print, the most economical shipping method is through UPS Ground. For shipping quote, please email us with your shipping destination/zip code.

Rare Vintage Antique Lydia Gibson Political Print Banks Munitions
From my own collection, I have had this for many years. I welcome information on this. Great old print, some foxing to the edges, minimal wear, main part of the pen and ink print is pretty much near perfect. Ready to frame and mat. Center has one little spot (at the skeleton's pelvis) that is hard to see. Looks like an acid stain. Sold as found. Measures about 14 by 12 . I welcome your shared knowledge on this print. From Wikipedia: Early years Lydia Gibson was born in 1891, one of three daughters of English-born architect Robert W. Gibson. She grew up in prosperity but seems to have been radicalized in her 20s during the movement for women's suffrage, in which she was an activist. In the latter half of the 1910s, she began contributing her work to The Masses, a literary and artistic magazine with a distinct socialist orientation, published by Max Eastman and his sister Crystal in New York City. In conjunction with her work with The Masses, Gibson met and worked with many other prominent political artists of the day, including Boardman Robinson, Art Young, Hugo Gellert, and Robert Minor. The anarchist Texan Minor fell in love with Gibson, but she initially declined the advances of the political cartoonist, whom she believed to still have been married. After the Bolshevik Revolution of November 1917, Minor traveled to Soviet Russia, where he became committed to the communist cause and subsequently foreswore his anarchist beliefs and joined the underground Communist Party of America. In August 1920 Gibson also changed her mind a little, this over matters of the heart and wrote to Robert Minor, then amorously involved and living with radical journalist Mary Heaton Vorse. Gibson signaled her intentions to Minor and eventually won his returned affection after the two had worked together in the offices of The Liberator in 1922. The two married in 1923. In 1934, Gibson wrote and illustrated a children's book, The Teacup Whale, a tale which, while not explicitly radical, invited children to dream big dreams and to challenge the contrary opinions of doubters. Gibson and Minor remained together until the latter's death of a heart attack in 1952. Later life and death Lydia Gibson remained loyal to the Communist Party even after the revelations of Nikita Khrushchev in 1956. In 1962 she loaned the party $5,000 in US Treasury Bonds to bail out CPUSA General Secretary Gus Hall from jail. Lydia Gibson died in 1964.
Rare Antique Hand Made Silhouette Eastern Star W Peacock
I bought an amazing collection of hand made antique silhouettes from an estate about 20 yrs ago and have had them all safely stored in a dry cool smoke free environment for all this time. I had considered framing them all and doing an entire wall of my home with them; however, I have now decided to part with them. Please search for silhoette in my store to view others. These are rare, wonderful and special, whimsical, unusual and well done. All of these are on some sort of beige background (a few exceptions) and nearly all have a plastic covering. I am selling them as found. These are not professionally or acid free preserved or mounted. Some have minor discoloration, and my photos show a glare in some from the plastic. The plastic is generally stapled onto the edges. I would recommend having these professionally remounted. My price reflects these as they are and I am not planning on matting or framing these...I will leave that up to the person or people who buy them. APPROX. 13.5 BY 10.5 . Peacock and Eastern Star Pentagram motif. Interesting and mysterious!

Not only was Lionel Barrymore a famous stage and screen actor but he was also a gifted artist as well. Throughout the sixties, he created many gold foil etched prints featuring the seaside and boating themes. This wood framed 8 3/4 x 10 3/4 inch Shoreside Farm print depicts a rustic farm setting with trees and a boat in the forefront. Foil medium art does naturally expand and shrink which causes some creasing over time, but over-all, the print is in fine vintage condition. Titled and signed by Lionel Barrymore, the print has a wire hanger attached to the backside, making it display ready.

Collector Bookstore is a retailer of new books located in Leavenworth, Kansas. We specialize in price guides and reference books for the antiques and collectibles industry. One of the most popular forms of twentieth-century design, the Art Deco style dominated the decorative arts in the 1920s and 30s. Championed by progressive architects and inspired by such diverse influences as the industrial age and Native American art, it became a form of artistic self-expression for nearly three decades. This volume includes scores of photographs and important articles that describe the aesthetics of this distinctive style. An introduction by architectural critic Lewis Mumford is followed by commentaries by such notables as Frank Lloyd Wright on design principles; theatrical and industrial designer Norman Bel Geddes on outfitting business interiors; and Edward Steichen on commercial photography. A fascinating glimpse of an exciting and innovative period in the history of American design, this book will appeal to a wide audience-from interior decorators and graphic artists to students of art and lovers of the Art Deco style.
