Pair of Vintage Sand Art Bird Pictures. The Parrot and Cockateal pair were made using decorative cord and colored sand. The cord was glued to the backing. The different colors of sand were then glued to color the pictures. I would guess these are from the 1950's or 60's. The background is a linen look wall paper. These would be great for the bird lover, interesting art lover, retro decorater, etc.

(1829-97) Born in Andover, Mass. Attended Phillips Andover Academy and Harvard. Became one of the most prominent lawyers in Massachusetts. Was President of the Boston Bar Association. Had an ancestor killed at Bunker Hill during the American Revolution, and was a member of the Bunker Hill Monument Association. On May 29, 1897, at a meeting of the Suffolk Bar, resolutions were adopted and addresses were made by distinguished members of the Bar, and by Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr., of the Supreme Court, in tribute to Shattuck, who had died 3 months earlier. Professor James B. Thayer said of him, All through his life he won what he got by the strong, direct, vigorous efforts of a man who felt himself competent for his task and who had thoroughly prepared himself for it. He was one of the best, kindest and most devoted friends, one of the most faithful and trustworthy legal advisers, one of the most competent, thoroughly prepared advocates, one of the best citizens and one of the most faithful, strong and upright men I have ever known. Original 1800's portrait engraving. 6 x 9 1/4, with printed autograph below his likeness. Excellent.
(1819-1901) Monarch of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, from 1837 until her death in 1901. Antique portrait, executed by D. Appleton & Co. 3 3/4 x 5 1/4. Tipped to 6 x 9 1/4 album page. Very fine 1880's print showing Queen Victoria wearing her small diamond crown. The original photograph was taken by Alexander Bassano in 1882.
Here is a fabulous vintage illustration that was created by the artist: R.H. PALENSKE. Print is TITLED: MAN O' WAR. Large portrait view of this famous racing horse. Palenske's illustrations are created in a black and white sepia tone simple coloring. Makes it even more realistic in the classic pictures he produces with animals, man, and situations in nature. This should appeal to the avid nature and horse collector. LARGER calendars were produced with the calendar at the bottom. This is the top of the calendar. Overall with border measures 14 inches wide by 15-3/4 inches high. Actual print size measures 10-3/4 inches wide by 13-1/8 inches high. CONDITION: NEAR-EXCELLENT. To the right of the horse the print has some slight waves, and a very clean precise cut through print 1-1/2 inches above the lower right hand corner. These flaws should straighten out once you frame them under glass. Was stored flat away from light. A beauty to collect!! **Note: We need to mention that THIS PARTICULAR PRINT of PALENSKE IS SO VERY POPULAR AND VERY SCARCE TO OBTAIN. SO MUCH SO THAT IN NEW YORK WAS TOLD THAT THESE GO FOR UP AROUND $500.00. DON'T MISS OUT ON YOUR OPPORTUNITY TO OWN THIS **HOT** LITHOGRAPH. Lovely Indian Maiden Deco Print-holding Daisy Flower, waterfalls
Lovely Fair Indian Maiden, with her hands up in the air admiring a daisy flower. It's quite possible that she might be making a head ornament made out of flowers since there appears to be a string attached to the flower. She is under the cool shade of a large tree as she is sitting on a large log nestled by the water. Beautiful large trees in the background, as the large beautiful waterfalls over the mountain. Lots of detailing in this illustration. The lithograph is TITLED: WABIGOON. In my reference book, RICK & CHARLOTTE MARTIN-VINTAGE ILLUSTRATION Discovering America's Calendar Art, it does not seem to be mentioned, so not certain IF this is an unusual or hard-to-find print. TINTOGRAVUE. In lower right corner is marked: 1926 OR 1936 (HARD TO READ), @THE BROWN & BIGELOW, U.S.A. MEASURING 6-1/2 INCHES WIDE BY 8-1/2 INCHES HIGH. Print in NEAR-EXCELLENT Condition.
